Ethnocultural aspects of posttraumatic stress disorder : issues, research, and clinical applications

In recent years, the concept of post-traumatic stress disorder has captured the attention and concern of clinicians and scientists, and PTSD has been extensively studied. However, most of the research and clinical experience validating the diagnosis have been carried out in Western industrialised nations. It is still unclear to what extent individuals from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds vary in their response to trauma.
