Description

After banishing an immortal being and a fallen High Priestess, saving Stark's life, biting Heath, getting a headache from Erik, and almost dying, Zoey Redbird would catch a break. Juggling three guys is anything but a stress reliever, especially when one of them is a sexy Warrior who is so into protecting Zoey that he can sense her emotions. The dark force lurking in the tunnels under the Tulsa Depot is spreading, and Zoey is beginning to believe Stevie Rae could be responsible for a lot more than a group of misfit red fledglings. Aphrodite's visions warn Zoey to stay away from Kalona and his dark allure, but they also show that it is Zoey who has the power to stop the evil immortal. Soon it becomes obvious that Zoey has no choice: if she doesn't go to Kalona he will exact a fiery vengeance on those closest to her.… (more)

Media reviews

Like the best teen dramas, Tempted's issues are relatable... But [the Casts] philosophizing goes on a bit too long, putting readers in a holding pattern even when Zoey and her gang are on the move. It's only when they reach the killer cliffhanger that you'll accuse them of moving too swiftly.

About~ So…you’d think after banishing an immortal being and a fallen High Priestess, saving Stark’s life, biting Heath, getting a headache from Erik, and almost dying, Zoey Redbird would catch a break. Sadly, a break is not in the House of Night school forecast for the High Priestess in
Show More
training and her gang. Juggling three guys is anything but a stress reliever, especially when one of them is a sexy Warrior who is so into protecting Zoey that he can sense her emotions. Speaking of stress, the dark force lurking in the tunnels under the Tulsa Depot is spreading, and Zoey is beginning to believe Stevie Rae could be responsible for a lot more than a group of misfit red fledglings. Aphrodite’s visions warn Zoey to stay away from Kalona and his dark allure, but they also show that it is Zoey who has the power to stop the evil immortal. Soon it becomes obvious that Zoey has no choice: if she doesn’t go to Kalona he will exact a fiery vengeance on those closest to her. Will Zoey have the courage to chance losing her life, her heart, and her soul? Find out in the next spectacular installment in the House of Night series, TEMPTED.

My Review~ Okay, as much as I love the House Of Night series, I felt like no questions or problem were solved or answered. Instead I wound up having more questions and in the story there were more issues. At times I was a bit confused. The drama was still great, the characters were still funny, but sadly this was not what I was expecting for the 6th book of the House Of Night series. I hope the 7th book Burned is way better.

This book was pretty awesome! It had a bit of a slow start, but then it got real good, real fast. The ending is so frustrating though. They stopped the book at like the best part! I can't wait to read Burned. I liked the fact that this book jumps back and forth between characters, instead of just
Show More
always staying with Zoey. Sometimes it's interesting to look at things from another perspective.

I have been addicted to the House of Night series since Book 1. Going on Book 6, “Tempted," the series seems to be running out of steam.

Usually, I can’t wait to read the next one and would count down the days until it came out — this time, I read like 50 pages and then put it down … for a
Show More
year. It wasn’t until the next book came out that I thought perhaps I should finish the last.

I think that I am ready for some part of the series to wrap up. The authors just keep adding, but not really solving anything. Each book only spans a couple of days at most, so they can’t cover that much.

The Casts have also been summarizing the other books A LOT. I can’t stand when authors do this. Either have a summary of the past books in a separate section, or just believe that people have read the other ones. I mean really, it’s annoying.

So, I am going to read Book 7, but if this series doesn’t pick up, I’m going to drop it.

I personally REALLY enjoyed this book! I'd have to say it was one of my favourites. It has been a while since I read it but I remember reading it for a third time before I gave it back to my friend. That is how intriguing I thought it was. And I loved/hated the ending. I loved how they ended it
Show More
with how Heath gets killed and Zoey looses her soul and then they put an epilogue (I think) at the back so we get a taste of what the next book would be like . I hated it because it got me so curious that couldn't even concentrate in class. I wanted to know what would happen next.

After reading so far into this series, how could I not grab this book for myself. This one seemed a little more in depth, and in saying that I mean, it took a while for the action to really start. And each chapter is from a different POV (point-of-view). Which was nice.

This book starts off after
Show More
all the turmoil left behind after the groups confrontation with Neferet and Kalona. They seem to have disappeared somewhere and Zoey Redbird and her group, Aphrodite, Shaunee, Erik, Stark, Stevie Rae, Erin and all are left hiding with some nuns and Zoey's grandmother. And to fill the mood around them, there was a severe ice storm in the city so everything is black and gloomy.

Stevie Rae is hiding something from the rest of them and she's worried that if they find out what she has done, they'll turn their backs on her. Zoey has been having feelings towards Kalona that she knows is only because her soul was A-ya's and it still loves him. Heath, her consort is trying to help her and she now has a warrior. But really the point of this book was that the group and what is left at the House of Night is to try and stop Kalona and Neferet from taking over everything. But can she convince the Vampyre Council that Neferet and Kalona are really not who they say they are? And it takes almost the whole book in order for the real action to start. Which kind of disappointed me.

It was quite refreshing to see the different POVs, cause the previous books really only came from Zoey's POV. In this one, we really get a good look at Stevie Rae and why she does what she does. Because these are teenagers, I can understand all of the boy issues with Zoey, but I think there was a little too much that. All in all, it was a great read and the cliffhanger at the end, really had me gripping the edge of my seat. So now I have to wait patiently until the next installment comes - Burned.

I loved this book!! It is from my favorite series. I could not set this book down I was up for a night reading it but with the suspence in the ending and I laughed and I cried. This book is amazing and I can't wait for Burned!!!

Really reminded me that this is a YA series. Kinda gossipy and flighty but still a fun read.

Book 6. Fast read. Major drama. Angst, thrill, worry, fear, care, asn surprise. The Cast's keep the heat on with this book in the House of Night series, pulling all of our favorite charcters along, bringing many of them into thier own right, and setting up an ultimate showdown of good versus evil,
Show More
with a hitch. Two small life lessons that apply to everyone. Nyx instructs Zoey - its all about the power of truth. And she schools Kalona (back in memories) that even Warriors and Immortals have free will, and the choices made with that free will define who a person is.
And oh yes - the ending - will tick you off. Its a cliffhanger!

OMG. Just read Tempted and had a MAJOR breakdown. If I find out Zoey has died in Burned, I am seriously going to blow! Ugh! The 46-holds wait is killing me!

Tempted Book 6 in the House of Night series by P.C. Cast.

So here's how it goes. Zoey is still unsure of which guy she should be with. There is a lot of action in this book, more so then in the others which makes it interesting, and a nice change of scenery. I liked how the book ended, it was
Show More
cute...ish. But still, Cast seems to lack something, and makes me wonder if she thinks all teenagers are stupid. Because the ones that I know are not.
However, even though the main character annoys me to no end, the series is still enjoyable to read.

I am finding that the main character (Z) is grating on my nerves. I do feel like that other characters are wonderful to read. They are each growing and coming into themselves quite well. Aphrodite is probably the most overall surprise to me, I am actually enjoying her character now. I think at this
Show More
point they have beat Z's boy problems into the ground and her inability to allow her friends the same mistakes she allows herself is getting old too. I think this mostly has to do with Stevie Ray (as I think she is the equal of Z to the red fledglings). I thought overall that I did not enjoy the POV change in this book but that the story did move along. I will continue reading the series as overall it is enjoyable.

I really enjoyed Tempted. The series as a whole has been really enjoyable to me. I dont think that Tempted is my favorite in the series but the story moves along well with several unexpected happenings, and a cliff hanger ending...

After I got done reading it I was like WHAT?... WHAT!?... and I was
Show More
antsy for the next book to come out...

I enjoy that most of their books resolve in the end. I'm not really one who is much for cliff hangers unless the next book is already out. It gets irritating and then I have to reread the book before so that I can make sure that I'm up to speed on what is happening.

i didn't even bother finishing!
The whole series is boring and uninteresting to me
maybe it's because i didn't read the first book but from what i read from tempted i got the gist of the whole series and frankly i don't see myself reading anything from this author in the future.
LibraryThing member EmScape
This book is quite an improvement over the last couple, mostly because parts of it are told from a point of view other than Zoey's. I think the Casts realized how much their story was suffering by only letting the reader know what Zoey has learned and also subjecting us to her whiny inner
Show More
monologue. Zoey still has too many boyfriends, at least at the beginning of the book, and it was nice for that situation to become less complicated, although one elimination was not as pleasant as the other.
The plot has really picked up as well, deepening into an exploration of various characters' choices between good and evil and whether those two concepts are black and white, or if it isn't better that there are shades of gray. The possibility of redemption is always there, even for the most seemingly "evil" and that's an excellent thing for a young adult book to explore.
I'm sure there were a lot of tiresome things about the writing style and word choice, because I remember cringing when I read certain parts, but even though I just finished this last night, I can't for the life of me remember any of them. I think that's good because then it musn't have been that bad.
I wasn't looking forward to finishing this series when I finished the last book, but now I can't wait to pick up the next.

Yes, the more I read, the more I want to keep reading! In this particular book I love the way the authors have incorporated more than just the main character's point of view, it adds richness to the already full story! I also love it that the characters are not one-sided, not just blak or white, it
Show More
takes very unexpected turns, great job P.C. and Kristin Cast!!!

I was not thrilled with the sixth book in the House of Night series. I didn't like the jumping from person to person in the chapters, because they all sounds like Zoey to me. If you are going to write from another characters POV you should really try to create the character. Stevie Rae was almost
Show More
exactly like Z.

The story was anti-climactic until the very very end which was frustrating and the fact that both Z and Stevie Rae have boy issues is starting to wear on me a little.

I hope the next one is good. I will be reading it regardless.

Zoey contines her journy to save the world from a immortal consort. This book is different from the other books in the series and it shows multiple points of view. I recomend it to any body who loves vampire romance.

Title: Tempted
Authors: Kristin + P.C Cast
Genre: YA, Fantasy
Publisher: ATOM
Publication Date: October 2009
Paperback: 336

Summary: Zoey needs a break after some serious excitement. Sadly, the House of Night school for vampyres doesn't feature breaks on its curriculum - even for a High Priestess in
Show More
training and her gang. Plus juggling three guys is no stress reliever, especially when one is a sexy Warrior so into protecting Zoey that he's sensing her emotions. Wider stresses lurk too, and the dark force in Tulsa's tunnels is spreading. Could Stevie Rae be responsible for more than a group of misfit fledglings? And Aphrodite's visions warn Zoey to stay away from the immortal Kalona and his dark allure - but they also show that only Zoey can stop him. She's not exactly keen to meet up, but if Zoey doesn't go to Kalona he'll exact a fiery vengeance on those closest to her. She just has to find the courage to do what's necessary, or everything that's important to her will be
destroyed.

Book Review:
Although it was annoying at times I liked this book a lot. This is one of those books where it just comes down to the person. It makes reviewing it hard because you don't want to tell someone to go and read it, and have them hate it. Actually the last three books are either my least favorite, or favorite books in the series. I don't know why, but I can't seem to decide. It is interesting to read the different character's point of views. I especially like Stevie Rae's when she made her imprint. I was upset when Heath got killed. I was really rooting for him. He is sweet, and he was there for Zoe from the beginning. Although I like Stark too. I am beginning to not really like Zoe that much anymore. She instead of growing, and maturing seems to be becoming more annoying by each book. Yeah she has a lot of problems, but lately she's kinda been acing like a slut. Besides all that I liked how Stark is so devoted to Zoe, and the new setting of this book. Overall I enjoyed this book, but I can't promise anything.

Rating: A-

Notable Quotes:
"Hey, which one of them is supposed to be your boyfriend?” Stark
asked me. Even in the terrible shape he was in, he caught my glance
with his. His voice was scratchy, and he sounded scarily weak, but
his eyes sparkled with humor.

I am!” Heath and Erik said together."

"How will it ever be bearable, Priestess?” His voice was rough. He sounded completely broken.
“You’ll see her again. She’s with Nyx now. She’ll either wait for you in the Goddess’s meadow, or she’ll be reborn and her soul will find you again during this lifetime. You can bear it because you know that spirit never really ends-we never really end. "

"We are all affected by our pasts, but it is within our power not to let what we have done to dictate what we will do."

"There is a deep power in words that speak the truth

"I've loved you for as long as I can remember, and I'm going to love you for the rest of my life."

"When you make mistakes, whether they are from this life or another, learn from them- then they become opportunities"

"A double-edged sword
One side destroys
One releases
I am your Gordian knot
Will you release or destroy me?
Follow truth and you shall:
Find me on water
Purify me through fire
Trapped by earth nevermore
Air will whisper to you
What spirit already knows:
That even shattered
anything is possible
If you believe
Then we shall both be free."

Three stars for Tempted, well the epilogue won the third. I'm seriously considering if I will continue reading House of Night series. I'm starting to dislike Zoey, the character is more self-centered than ever with all her emotional issues and guy issues. On the contrary, Stevie Rae has an
Show More
interesting plot line. I would like to see more of her in the future of this series.
