The story is engaging and interesting and nicely paced.

I understand that this is a book in the middle of a long series of books (I didn't realize this when I picked it up) and I haven't read other books in the series. The story, however, is perfectly "followable" without knowing the history of the

character(s).

I'd certainly have no qualms about reading others in this series. I gave it 4 stars because, while it's not a masterpiece of writing, for its genre, it's quite enjoyable.
