This is a paperbound edition of a 2000 book about which Book News wrote: In 1962, Arthur, former managing editor of the The New York Times and Barbara, biographer of John Reed and Louise Bryant, published a biography of US playwright Eugene O'Neill (1888-1953), but have continued their research, and here offer the first of three massive volumes amplifying their theme. They now delve into his father's Irish ancestry and late-19th-century stage career, and tell stories about his early life that were either too racy for the early 1960s or that were not yet spoken of by those who knew.
