Description

Fiction. Mystery. Suspense. Thriller. HTML: Living in the peaceful city of Pickax may be restful, but it certainly isn't dull. At least not for one of the most eligible bachelors in town, veteran newspaperman Jim Qwilleran. Having inherited millions, Qwilleran and his two feline companions, Koko and Yum Yum, are preparing to settle down into a life of purrfect luxury. That is, until the son of a rich banker and his wife are found murdered. To the police, it looks like a robbery gone awry. But then Koko develops an odd appetite for glue. Qwilleran doesn't spot the clue until his beloved Siamese's taste for paste tangles them in a web of love, danger, and their stickiest case yet!.

Jim Qwilleran has retired to Moose County with the cats Koko and Yum Yum. Life is pretty tranquil, Jim takes a part-time job at the local newspaper, and focusses on the re-decorating of his new apartment. Quiet that is until the murder of the son and daughter-in-law of the local 'family'. The

narration skills of reader George Guidall helped get me through this book. I think you are either a "The Cat Who…" fan, or you aren't. I have read/listened to 3 now, and I think perhaps I am not, even though the plots are quite interesting.

The mystery in this book doesn't make a whole lot of sense, and the answer sort of comes out of left field, but the rest of the story is as fun as any other Cat Who... book.

Jim Qwilleran and his two Siamese cats solve a double murder in the formerly peaceful town of Pickax where Jim has retired to spend his inheritance. It's a fun read.

It is nearing FDR's second term in the White House. Rumours are circulating about whether he will run for a third term. Hitler is on the move and heading for Paris. There are tensions in the air.

During a state dinner, Senator Gibson is found dead in the East Room. Known as being irresistible to

women, even though he is married and his wife claims they are both in love with each other, more rumours fly about his infidelities and the idea of jealous husband and spurned lovers are looked at as suspects. The home front now has its own tensions.

Eleanor Roosevelt finds herself drawn into solving another mystery. What she uncovers about the victim and those who are involved with him is more shocking that she originally thought. Sex, secrets, corruption are just hints of what Senator Gibson has been involved in. It is the others who are part of the escapades that are the real shockers.

Another enjoyable read that can also be a short read. I read it within 24 hours and thoroughly enjoyed it.

What an absolute delight to spend reading time with favorite characters Jim Qwilleran with Siamese cats Koko and Yum Yum. Regardless of what Jim Qwilleran is describing - daily habits with Koko and Yum Yum and his dining adventures with various female friends and acquaintances, he can make the

ordinary become extraordinary. As Jim is back on the trail for a good story to meet new deadlines, this one definitely becomes one of my favorites of the series.

One hurries to enjoy the adventures and how murder and mayhem play a part but the story is always over too soon. Thankfully, there are many more in the series to read and savor.

Another reread of a long ago listened to audio book, just as good as the first time. The series really hit it's stride with a mystery, small town life, journalism and Shakespeare.
