This is an enjoyable follow up from Bennett's point of view. I didn't remember a lot of details, but it did a pretty good job of naturally reminding what happened. I remembered that romance that shouldn't have happened because in different times but did anyway, that I thoroughly enjoyed. And while

it is present in this one, we see them apart more than book one. We see a lot of character development from Bennett and him struggling with the limitations of his travelings, and possibilities of changing what bothers him.
Bennett is as sweet, charming and conscientious as ever, but he does learn a lot about how he has been spreading himself thin. He realized the friends and family in both places that wanted and deserved his whole head instead of always divided between two times or not.
I flew through the story, hoping for certain things to fall into place, some suspicions confirmed that I wished weren't true, and other twists taking me by surprise.
To me, I forgot all of the details about time travel and the specifics, but I didn't harp over the inconsistencies or the things that didn't quite make sense because some of it I am not scientifically minded to understand anyways, I just love the concept not the hows or whys. So it may bother some people, but for me it is about the very idea of time crossed lovers and how they make that work in the emotional not science realm. And on that level Ms. Stone delivers beautifully.
There are some really tough choices explored and I loved the flawed perfection and internal struggle and anguish it brings out in the characters. It forces them to look past the blinders into their hearts for the answer even if it is not easy.
I reviewed Time After Time because it was available as an e-arc. But it is a book that I would have bought after release or at the very least checked out from the library, because I enjoyed the first book so much and I wanted to be back in their world and see what happens with their romance.
The ending isn't as complete as I would like it to be, but it is kind of perfect in that contemporary sort of way. In that the main issues in the book are tied up and there is a half way open ending where I can keep imagining the characters and how they get to the spot that I know they will be and what will happen to them after that.

Bottom Line: Sweet conclusion that I devoured.

TIME BETWEEN US was one of my favorite books of 2012, at the time I wasn't sure if it was a standalone or if there would be another. The story ended nicely and could easily stand on its own but I just wasn't ready to let go of Anna & Bennett. I crossed my fingers and hoped for more!! Thankfully

Tamara soon announced that there would be a book two, TIME AFTER TIME, and I was beyond ecstatic. Even more so when I learned it was going to be told from Bennett's point-of-view. I LOVE Bennett, he is one of the greatest guys in contemporary fiction.

The story transitioned to Bennett's point-of-view so seamlessly I forgot the first book had been told by Anna. The best part about this book was getting to see more of the details about when Bennett travels. From Anna's perspective, POOF, he's just gone, but this way we got to see more of what exactly Bennett has to go through each time he travels.

One of the many things I love about these books is that there is nothing objectionable; no swears, no sex, no drugs. The characters are sweet, the romance is sweeter and family is a big part of the story. I love that Anna has a healthy relationship with her parents and while Bennett's family relationships might be a little more strained, they still love each other so much, which is refreshing to see in YA.

Overall, an amazing sequel to an amazing series. Seriously if you haven't read these yet, I'm not sure we can be friends. . . okay I guess we can ;) but you should still go read them! Two of the BEST contemporary books I've ever read!

ACTUALLY 2.5 STARS

Due to copy and paste, formatting has been lost.

I remember when I read Time Between Us, I thought it was a pretty good read. I liked it, I liked Anna and Bennett, but I thought that it was a little cliched. I still ended up giving it four stars, though.

Time After Time was a

completely different experience for me. I just couldn't shake the thought, throughout the book, that Anna and Bennett just shouldn't be together. They're from completely different worlds! They'd never really be able to keep up an actual relationship - I mean, they could never live together or get married and have kids, because Bennett doesn't belong in 1995, and Anna can't go to 2012. All that they're doing is causing a whole bunch of heartache for themselves.

So really, I couldn't fall for them as a couple. Several times I just wanted Anna and Bennett to let each other go, to just live in the moment. I found myself not wanting them to work out.

I had to push myself through parts of this book, because I felt like the plot just moved so slow! There was a definite bumpedita theme going on here, and the fact remains that the romance just wasn't working for me. The next thing that bothered me was the time travel - I loved it in the first book, I really did.

But in this one, I kept questioning it and everything that Bennett did with it. I couldn't help but think about the fact that he has inadvertently caused a lot of the things that shouldn't have happened. He's messed up a lot of stories, that's for sure.

All in all, Time After Time just wasn't for me. The time travel just didn't work, and I found myself hoping that the lead couple would just break it off.

Time After Time is the sequel to Time Between Us, and after reading Time Between Us I did not think that there was going to be another book. I was happy to learn that this book would arrive this fall and that it would be told from Bennett’s point of view instead of Anna’s. I think that this
Show More
book was just as good as the first one but for different reasons.

In book one, I was taken aback by the way that time-travel worked so easily (and not so easily). I had just read other time-travel books that I was NOT ok with so this was a welcome change. Needless to say the time travel is still wonderful in this installment but what really catches the reader (or at least myself) was that we finally learn how Bennett feels about everything that happens to him.

In Time Between Us, he is the bad boy time traveler who is there and then gone again, who may or may not use his powers for good, all while Anna ponders the implications of it all. In Time After Time, we learn how tormented Bennett really is by his abilities and how stressful it can be for him. That he is really not the bad boy at all but a stressed out, freak of a kid, who wants some normalcy in his life but is in love with a girl from a completely different time period from his own.

I think that learning more about Bennett really made this book stronger than I originally thought it would be. The relationship between Anna and Bennett is bizarre and amazing and these books gave the readers something that other books haven’t, both sides of the story (to a degree).

This book made me incredibly happy. I also think this falls under the category of “Best Sequel I’ve Read This Year”. I am not lying.

This book is told in Bennett’s POV and it was so refreshing! I LOVED the fact that we got to see what Bennett was thinking all this time and I sympathized with

him so much more than in book one!

In this book there’s actually a little bit more than romance to focus on. This time, Bennett is learning that with his power comes great responsibility (hahaha I’m such a nerd), and he’s trying to find a way to live with his ability, and also with the decisions that he takes each day. He wants so desperately to help people and to change certain outcomes, but he needs to figure out what the overall outcome is. I liked seeing this part of this struggle because while the time travel aspect is not scientifically explained, we see an actual conflict that stems from his ability.

The romance here is just as wonderful and it was in the first book and in this story I was on the edge because it was the last book. That meant that everything had to be resolved here. I was so afraid for Anna and Bennett because they snuck into my heart and I found myself wishing the best for them. It was definitely very emotionally draining as we realize that their romance is anything but easy, and while only teenagers they feel an emotion so intense that you can’t help but believe them.

“What do you mean what I want? When is this ever about what I want? I don’t have anything –not one single thing- that I want. Don’t you get it? […] I get to have this tiny little taste of all these incredible things but I don’t get to keep any of them. I get to meet you and be part of your life, […] but I don’t get to hold on to any of it. I can’t stay here. This isn’t my home. And every time I have to go back, it kills me. Every. Single. Time.”

My only gripe with this book is the fact that I wanted so much MORE. I wanted to know more and more. Anna and Bennett’s story is one I’ll definitely never forget and I’ll be sure to reread when I’m in the mood for a book that’ll make me smile.

Overall, Tamara Ireland Stone wonderfully wrote this book. She found a way to give us a real, tangible, conflict and write a wonderful resolution that was completely believable.
