The Rise of Nine
The book the rise of nine is a thrilling book about an alien race trying to survive. Not only that but they have to try to save Earth as well. Before you read this you should read the first two books if you have not yet because it won’t
The book the rise of nine is a book about six kids ,all of which are aliens from Lorien. They had come to Earth to hide and train away from the Mogadorian’s clutches. Each one has a Capen, their Capens are there to protect, mentor, and guide them. They train far from each other so it is harder for the Mogadorians to find them all. Then finally they will all find each other and fight the Mogs and retake Lorien. Each of the Garde the nine that came to Earth has legacies which are special and unique powers that come to there owners when they are ready.
In some spots in the book it is confusing because the author does not tell you right away who is speaking. But I like the way the author did the chapters, one story to another then back to that story. I like that because you have to keep reading to find out more and that moves the book fast. All in all I think it was a good book because it had more good parts than bad ones. So it would be a great book for young adults.

make any sense. They came from Lorien on a ship escaping the grasp of the cruel and rut; hless Mogadorians. At the beginning there were nine, the Mogadorians got to three, six are left fighting to survive and fight back. The book the rise of nine is a book about six kids ,all of which are aliens from Lorien. They had come to Earth to hide and train away from the Mogadorian’s clutches. Following a fiery explosion and the heart-breaking death of Henri, Four meets the next of his group, Six. She is completely different from Four - confident and in control of her legacies in a way he only wishes. Four, Six and Sam, a friend from Paradise, escape Paradise and hit the road. They find an abandoned house and heal and train and grow their abilities.
But, the unknown Mogadorians and Sam's missing father haunt them. As do the scars burned in their legs. Each time one of the original Garde is caught and killed by the Mogadorians, a scar is seared into their legs.
The story shifts a bit in the next book and more of the Garde are introduced - the story telling moves between the characters until they all end up in the penthouse apartment of Six at the top of the John Hancock building in Chicago. As the Garde gather and train and learn from one another more and more of the story comes out. It is their responsibility to carry on their legacy. But, at what cost? They are after all only children. All of them have lost their Cepan's and some have lost the chests of their Loric tools. But the end of this book the group is: Four, Six, Eight, Nine and Ten plus Sarah (Four's girlfriend) and Sam his friend.

The story shifts as Five joins the Garde. He adds a layer of darkness and tension. Sam also is able to reunite with his Father who disappeared long ago - he was one of the Greeters who welcomed the Lorian spaceship to earth. I found this book harder to understand. The storytelling switches between characters - each using the first person. I was sometimes a bit confused by who was talking. The font is different for each - but not drastically. I found it distracting from the storyline.
I like parts of these - but get so tired of the teenage angst that is layered in these stories. They remind me of the Series of Unfortunate Events in that Pittacus Lore is also a character in the story. He is the one that Sam's father met on earth - but how can that be since only the children made it to the planet. Each book leaves unanswered questions. I am not sure how dedicated I am to stick with these though. It would be much easier to just wait and read them all at once...

For a while now, I had been so excited to read this book. The last book left my heart broken with the many revelations that had happen. I didn't think I could bring myself to read this book cause for me, I was done. But....I needed to know. My mind would not let me rest until I knew if things have
What I enjoyed most about this book is the great plot. The reader gets to meet the rest of the group. 7,8 and 9. There are plenty of surprises with lots of action involved. I really loved that the reader gets plenty point of views switches without lost of information. There are several new friendships forms as well as love interest. I KNOW! Eeeeeek!

The friendships form go beyond what then reader sees. There is loyalty and strong urge to fight for all what they loss. When working together, the teams rocks. They get stuff done, protecting one another, fighting together. When they separate, things seem to go wrong all the time.
There is also the re-visit to some old character from the first book. I love stepping back where I originally fell in love. The reader gets some GOOD answers on situations that happen. I am happy to report, that it's not all what it seems.

I really enjoyed this book. It had great descriptive words and I could really feel like I was right there saying and doing everything alongside the characters. The book really drew me in and I couldn’t put it down. The book is split into different characters personalities giving you a glimpse of what's happening on either side of the earth. That way you know what's going on and how they might be connected. I recommend this book for ages 12 and up, but more important, to the people who have read the series.

others and attack Setrakus Ra. But they have several arguments about safety fighting and especially about Sarah and Sam, John’s girlfriend and best friend that were taken from him by the government. Arguing about finding them or sticking to the original goal and going after the alien leader. While on the other side of the Earth, Seven and the unknown tenth member, Ten team up to find Eight, the rumored god. Their journey was painful but when they finally find his, they find out his powers and a place that will help they rejoin with their companions. I really enjoyed this book. It had great descriptive words and I could really feel like I was right there saying and doing everything alongside the characters. The book really drew me in and I couldn’t put it down. I really enjoyed the first book in this series, I Am Number Four and liked The Power of Six, but did not love it. However, The Rise of Nine renewed my faith in this series because it was amazing! It took me a couple of chapters to get used to the flow of the book because the perspective switches
While we met Nine briefly in The Power of Six we get to spend a lot more time with him in The Rise of Nine. While Nine may have seemed to be a little annoying at first, he is hilarious in a fight scene. He does not to take too much seriously and his snarky comments during a battle kept me highly entertained. Here is an example:
“I hear the hammer of a gun click. We freeze. The trucker with the aviator glasses waves a .50 caliber Desert Eagle at us. I don’t know everything about guns, but I know this one packs a very big punch. He sounds pretty serious when he asks, “Which of you wants to die first?”
Of course Nine steps forward, crossing his arms over his chest. “Me.”
He raises the gun towards Nine’s face and laughs at what he thinks is just bravado. “Don’t tempt me punk. Killing you will be the highlight of my day.”
“Well then shoot. No reason to put off the highlight of your day. You don’t look like you get a lot of them.” Nine says. I sigh, knowing this is all going to end badly.”
It also helped to see that not all of the Nine get along with each other right away. They are adolescents and although they might literally have the weight of the world on their shoulders, they all still have moments when they act their age and just get frustrated with one another. The tension between Four and Nine lasted for a good portion of the book, but growing pains are to be expected when there is so much pressure on them and they are losing people they love in this battle. They are also two teenage boys who have different viewpoints on what is important and that caused them to constantly butt heads.
The action in this book is literally non-stop. I don’t think there is one chapter where something is not happening, such as a fight breaking out, the Mogadorians attacking, someone on the brink of death, or a huge revelation get dropped in the form of the Lorian history or legacies developing. It was amazing how much Pittacus could fit into these books with these characters and I was glued to the pages as it all unraveled before me.
The Rise of Nine does not end on a cliffhanger, but there is no way you could get all the way through this book and not want to come back for the next one! There are too many unfinished storylines to walk away from the series now. I have not heard any news about the next book, but I keeping my fingers crossed that it will be released soon! I am dying to see how all of this will end and how The Garde will finally stand up to and defeat Setrákus Ra. The first two books in the series were good, but this one was absolutely awesome! I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic science fiction book with some stellar fight sequences.

every chapter between, Six, Four and Seven, but each character has their own font type which helped distinguish whose perspective I was getting. Four is separated from Six and the others, so it was nice to get a sense of what was going on with all of them, but it was a little confusing at first. When we switch we also leave the character we were just following in some kind of predicament that makes it impossible to not keep flipping the pages to see what happened to them. As far as I know there aren’t any books similar to this in terms of plot and action, which makes this book a true original. I feel that is why it is all the more impressive that Pittacus Lore has created such a terrific trio of books.

This is good, solid YA adventure book. Good aliens battle the bad aliens with a little help from some human friends. I like the characters, the action, and the morals. I am a little tired of new powers emerging in the nick of time to save the day, but I can live with it. ; ) 3.5 stars.

John (number 4) mooning over Sarah, his girlfriend and Sam, his best friend who have either been left behind or captured. A lot of the story with 6 and the rest seem to have been entered as filler before the big fight. It was entertaining but not enough to rate it higher than I did.Read it when you have time to kill and want a good but not great book

I truly enjoyed the first two books of this series and was looking forward to Rise of Nine; at least until I learned there would be six books in the series. That presents two problems for me: 1) waiting years to get closure and 2) the "middle" will probably lag. Sadly, not only did this book lag
I have an excellent memory for books, but after reading several dozen books over the year, details begin to erode from following so many series. I was a third of the way into Nine before everything started clicking again. And now it'll be another year before the cliffhanger ending gets picked up. And, Rise of Nine is a "middle" book with all that comes with being one. First off, it jumped around like a madman from one narrator to the next, with the teens spread about the globe. In fact, the last few pages switched between the 7 Loriens paragraph by paragraph, straining my ability to keep track of who was talking (as they all speak in first person!) I did like knowing what was happening to all of them, rather than being stuck with one narrator, but it was poorly organized. But, the more serious problem I had with the book may come down to me being an adult and not the intended YA audience.
The teen angst got on my nerves, as well as continuing story contrivances. These teens are on the run for their lives; they have seen their dearest family murdered before their eyes; and yet, they make stupid mistakes and fight amongst themselves like regular teenagers! It just didn't make sense. Nine and Four get caught by the FBI because they are too busy playing with the items in their chests? I mean, really?! Oh, and those chests. So important, yet not one of these kids knows how to use more than one or two items. And have hurt themselves with them more than once. The Cepans knew they could be killed at any time - why would they not go through every item with their charges, or at least leave instructions, just in case?
SPOILER>>>>And, speaking of contrivances, the big bad can take away their legacies. All this build-up about how important these kids are; how important their legacies will be, and snap - he can just take them away with a thought? It stretches credibility to the breaking point.>>>>ENDSPOILER
Overall, the book wasn't bad but the saga has lost serious momentum for me. After an entire book, all that was accomplished was bringing everyone together except Five. No doubt, the next book will spend its entirety looking for him/her - how else will they stretch this out 3 more books? Though I still find the over-arching story interesting, I will probably hold off on reading any more until all the books have been released. Recommended, but with reservations.

i totally love this series.
first off, i must confess that i got into this simply because i loved the movie I am Number Four. I've been replaying the fight scene in the school over and over and have been wondering how the story was going to progress. once i finished reading The Power of Six, i
now on to the book:
my biggest peeve about this book was the rotating POVs that didn't sound all too different from the other two POVs. i had a hard time pinpointing who was narrating until later on in the chapters. I'm hopeful that the next ones in the series will be a little bit more enlightening.
i loved the small tidbits about Lorien and the Garde scattered here and there throughout the book. the flashbacks that number six are having are insightful.
i loved reading about the Garde coming into their Legacies, using the ones they already have and trying to learn more about those that are just manifesting. sometimes it's hard to believe that these teenagers are really the last of the Lorien and that they are all that is needed to awaken their hibernating planet but once i read about how they came together in a fight and how their cohesiveness as a unit, their chemistry if i may, just came about it suddenly seemed plausible. especially during their awesome fight scene with Setrakus Ra.
i also enjoyed the little tidbits of romance thrown into the mix. it would be fun to find out who ends up with whom.
all in all, a wonderful addition to the series and a good read. extremely enjoyable.

literally braved the pouring rains of a LPA and sent myself off to my favorite bookshop to find this third installment. lucky for me, it was in stock.now on to the book:

THE RISE OF NINE is action-packed and fast-paced. This book isn't perfect but it made me think, happy and annoyed. I still enjoyed reading it, it kept me sit at the edges at times.

The Summary:
Six, Seven, Ten and her Cepan, Crayton flew to India to find another member of the Garde. There they met Eight, who had been training his legacies and living without his cepan. Four and Nine had just excaped from the Mogadorians and the US Government. Four constantly thinks about Sam and Sarah. Nine constantly reminds him that they are here to train and protect the earth and Lorien.
In between reuniting with the members, each group faced threats, mysteries, self-discoveries, answers and more questions.
THE PROS:
In this book, we see more on the character development and discovery. The Garde's members discover themselves, their abilities, their chest, their past. Also, some of the mysteries are solved ( I wonder what will the other books' conflicts are).
The charntacters have different strengths and flaws, most of them I loved.
There's action, random action in the book. It's also intense and well-defined.
The differe POV's have different depths, different voices, you'll know when it change.
I love the twists at the end ( especially what happened with eight :))
Nine and Eight save the book. (Nine is hilarious, hot and has some sense, Eight is hot, powerful, light and friendly)
IN THE MIDDLE:
The whole series has a lot of things going on, there are numerous subplots, backstories, conflicts and protagonists.
It's an interesting mix of characters but it also lead to some of them being just shadows.
The end doesn't leave in a cliffhanger.
The writing is okay, once you get settled reading.
THE CONS:
There are some boring parts, well, mostly the first chapters. I feel like there's nothing really happening. The story felt stagnant, it really doesn't move anywhere.
The author tried to do romance, but it's not good. He tried doing love triangles (six, seven, eight), but only one of them knew that there is such thing. The pairings are complex. (Six likes four, four isn't sure about Sarah because of six, nine shows interest to six, six has some bond with eight, seven hates six for being too close with eight, then eight suddenly loves seven and seven's happy). I don't want eight to end up with seven ( and really, what's up with that kiss, it's random, no one expects it, it felt pushed, just so seven would feel better)
I'm gonna read I AM NUMBER FOUR first to know for myself how good it is. I'm gonna read the next books in this series, because I'd like to know who carries Pittacus Lore's power (eight claim it, four claim it, and six has a msyterious voice calling to her) and really I just wanna know how this would end.
Recommended to anyone who loves reading about aliens, sci-fi, thrillers and action-packed books.

haven't even seen the movie, but since I thought it was the last and the movie was just so famous, I need to read it ASAP. But as it turned out, this isn't the end and from what I heard, there's still the fourth,fifth, sixth book, maybe even up to nine **sigh**The Summary:

Woo boy, the last few chapters of The Rise of Nine had me on the edge of my seat, demanding "This better not end yet!" at least three times. New legacies, cool Inheritances, a badass mega villain, and jam-packed with even more action than Book Two.

But what the book lacks in character development it more than makes up for in engrossing plot and tons of action. Fans of the series will no doubt devour book three and count the days until Book Four.

from Four/John, Six and Seven/Marina (switch in POV is set off by different typefaces), so at first it may confuse some readers which POV is which since characterization hasn't improved all that much.But what the book lacks in character development it more than makes up for in engrossing plot and tons of action. In the third book of the Lorien Legacies series, Pittacus Lore doesn’t disappoint in the Rise of Nine. The second book Power of Six left off when Number Six and Number Four, John are desperate to find the rest of the Garde
As Lore goes back and forth between characters, the reader really gets to know everyone’s perspective. The idea of going back and forth in this book was ingenious because the reader saw the Garde pull together.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves an action packed thriller. But you need to read the previous books; I am Number Four and The Power of Six. Lore did an excellent job keeping me at the edge of my seat. I finished it in about five days. Throughout the entire not in one place did I not agree with what Pittacus Lore wrote. I am thrilled and can’t wait for the final book of the Lorien Legacies book.

before it’s too late. John just recently busted out of the jail that Sarah put him in. On the way out, John bumped into a colorful character; Number Nine. Based on the title you may be tricked into thinking it’s all about him,but it isn’t. While John and Nine make camp and plan their next move, Six, Seven, and Ten venture out to the Middle East to find Eight. Four and Nine battle constantly due to the fact that Setrakus Ra, most powerful Mogadorian in the entire universe, has arrived on Earth and is channeling Four through dreams. The blood lust Nine wants to after him with just the two of them while Four wants to go back and save his friends Sam and Sarah. On the other half of the world the three girls succeed and find Eight. He is the type of guy you learn to live with. Since he has been alone his entire life, he feels socially awkward but willing to cooperate. Even if it means Eight has to take on Setrakus Ra on his own and change his fate.As Lore goes back and forth between characters, the reader really gets to know everyone’s perspective. There is a large fighting scene that is very big and one of them isn’t even in it. The other thing is that it ended on a cliff hanger and the next book doesn’t come out in till August! I would recommend this book to + 12. There is a bit of violence that’s why I would wait in till the reader is older.

Hold on, my heart is still beating too fast, let me calm down and gather my thoughts...*inhale* WHY DOES THIS BOOK END AND MAKE ME WAIT FOR ANOTHER SEQUEL?! Since I have very little patience, I have been doing my best to work on that...BUT WHEN I READ A SERIES(such as this)AND I AM LEFT WITH AN
Ok i'm done yelling ^.^ I don't know why, but I honestly thought this was going to be the last novel in the series...I obviously thought wrong and am extremely irritated by that fact. Not that I ever want any real good series to end but I wanted answers! Now I am only left with more questions and feel the way I do when i'm getting into a good episode/movie online but then the stupid video stops, saying "you have watched 72 min, please wait 56 min or upgrade to Premium blah blah blah"...IRRITATING! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! What did I go through all this for? To wait for another YEAR?! If that was the sort of reaction you were going for "Pittacus" then you, my friend, are a GENIUS! A genius that I would like to scream at and shake your hand at the same time.

Not that I ever want any real good series to end but I wanted answers! Now I am only left with more questions and feel the way I do when i'm getting into a good episode/movie online but then the stupid video stops, saying "you have watched 72 min, please wait 56 min or upgrade to Premium blah blah blah"...IRRITATING! Bit of an improvement on the last one. Nine is a new character with a new way of dealing with things and we finally have an injection of humour into the series which was almost non existent in the first two movies.
