Insight: Paintings By Qiu Shihua

This catalogue contains work that was produced for Richard Tsao's first solo exhibition at Chambers Fine Art, Flood. Born and raised in Thailand to Chinese parents, Tsao has lived and worked in New York since 1972. He cultivates his paintings over a lengthy period of time. By placing canvases face down in a flood of marble dust, pigment, and water, the artist mediates the dialogue between these elements until they have reached perfect saturation. Beautiful to behold, Tsao's transcendental canvases slowly reveal their nuances and demand the same meditative attention from the audience as they did from their creator.
