I feel kind of bad for Mog and all always getting scolded and put out for the night, but I won't say this quotidian drama had too much hold on me. I think I found the family annoying. Hard to recall.

"Once there was a cat called Mog and she lived with a family called Thomas. Mog was nice but not very clever. She didn't understand a lot of things. A lot of other things she forgot. She was a very forgetful cat." And so begins this hilarious tale of the adorable Mog, a plump kitty-cat who, while

she may not have been the cleverest feline out there, had a heart full of love for her human family. When Mog's forgetfulness precipitates one crisis too many, leading to an unpleasant scene, the poor confused cat flees to the dark garden, where she thinks "dark thoughts," wondering if any of the Thomases even want her around anymore. But then, Mog sees a light in the kitchen...

It may sound like an odd thing for a self-professed cat-lover to say, but I have met some astoundingly dumb cats in my life. None more so than my sister's cat Sweetpea, whom I have been known to call "Substance Abuse Kitty," because of her predilection for licking unhealthy things, like photo negatives, or the gold paint on wedding invitations (hand-made for my sister's wedding - now that was a crisis! ha!). Needless to say, I have a real soft spot in my heart for such cats - I just can't help it, I feel amused by and protective of them, all at the same time - so I just wanted to scoop the adorably confused Mog out of this story, and give her a big cuddle. Her distress felt so real to me - after all, animals don't understand, for the most part, why people get upset with them - and her eventual (accidental) triumph so satisfying!

Humorous and heart-warming, this is a picture-book I would recommend to all true cat-lovers, especially any who have ever known one that was a little... well, forgetful!

Mog prowls her suburban English locale and ends up bringing to justice a hilariously stereotypical (cat?) burglar. Cup of tea all round!

My daughters used to love this book - we would all chorus 'Bother that cat!' along with the Thomases whenever Mog forgot something. Although it was not the first one we read, it was the first in the series which is why Mog might kept have forgetting her cat flap?

Anyway, we all loved the climax when

Mog terrifies the burglar in his stripey jersey and mask: the police arrive and everyone - including the crook - have a cup of tea and Mog is roundly praised - except by the intruder who is muttering 'Bother that cat'.

Gentle, humorous with soft, friendly drawings and nice kind characters, Mog is a wonderful series of books for children

This book is about a cat named Mog who tends to forget certain things, which causes her family to get upset with her until something bad happens and they realize how grateful they are to have Mog. I enjoyed this book because it teaches children just how much a pet can be cherished. I would

recommend this book for grades K-3.

I have a copy of this book so old that my mother had it when she was a kid and passed it on to me. It is a wonderful book and my family even sometimes calls our own forgetful cat Mog.

Mog is very forgetful and that can be a bother in her family. But she can also be the one to save the family from great danger. A 1001 CBYMRBYGU.

Mog is very forgetful, and causes all sorts of trouble for his family. He worries that no one loves him, but discovers his forgetfulness can be helpful as well. Cute story, love the illustrations.
