I really liked this easy reader. It is the only Dodsworth book I have read, but I am assuming Egan has a whole series about Duck and Dodsworth. I liked how Duck was the one making all of the silly mistakes, but in the end, it is his mishap that saves the day!

“Dodsworth in Paris” is a great book for several reasons. First, Dodsworth and his friend, a duck, go on an adventure to the city of Paris, France. The author, Tim Egan takes these two friends on an adventure through the city while visiting the most common places to visit when in Paris. The

story is about the obstacles these two friends encounter and the simple solution that happens at the end. Through Paris, they explore museums, restaurants, landmarks, and cathedrals that they enjoy together, along with trying to stay out of trouble. Second, Egan’s simple and beautiful illustrations capture the life and color of trip that Dodsworth and the duck take together through Paris. The dull colors and simple drawings combine perfectly to show the easy, happy time they have visiting Paris together. Another reason I like the book is that it is in small chapters to attract younger readers. These chapters go through their journey which each chapter containing a small problem and by the end a solution. This is a cute and informative book for the young readers. It is also informational book because it talks about the main places to visit when going to Paris, where Dodsworth and the duck visit. Some children would be able to relate to this book, as it is part of a vacation they have taken with family or friends. Overall, this chapter book contains two friends taking an adventure with plenty of bumps in the road, but in the end it was one to remember!

Meh. I can imagine the appeal to the right audience, but the two of the series I tried just didn't do anything for me.
