The Darling Family, which consist of Wendy, Micheal, and John, often tell bedtime stories of faraway lands and adventures. One night a little boy, named Peter Pan, flies threw the window to listen to Wendy's tales. Peter Pan asks the Darling children, to come with him on the adventures of
Show More
Neverland. But little did they know they would soon meet other friends, The Lost Boys, and even some mean Pirates. Many adventures happen, but soon the Darling children become homesick and go back to their home, waving goodbye to Peter Pan and the Lost Boys, promising to see them again soon.

I really enjoyed reading this story. I liked it more reading it as a adult, rather then as a child. As a child, I was scared of the pirates. This book has beautiful illustrations, and is very fun to read.

Some of the activities that you might do with children would be a puppet show, with the characters out of the story. You could also bring the movie "Peter Pan" and have a popcorn party, and talk about the differences between the book and the movie.

Summary: Peter Pan is a beloved story re- told with slight variations throughout the years. It is about a boy named Peter, who does not want to grow up, so he leaves to a world called “Neverland.” A girl named Wendy meets Peter Pan when he loses his shadow in her room. Wendy is told she needs

to grow up and move into her own room, so Peter takes Wendy and her 2 little brothers with him to Neverland. Wendy and her brothers have all sorts of adventures, including meeting Hook, the mean pirate. After a while, Wendy and the boys miss home and Peter Pan takes them back.
Personal Reaction: I remember reading this story as a little girl and loving it. Then when I had children of my own, I read this story to them. I always wanted to grow up and wondered why Peter Pan didn’t want to.
Class room extension ideas: 1) This book could be used to learn about pirates.
2)This book could be used as a tool to talk about growing up. 3) This book can also be used as a tool to teach about strangers.

I remember reading this book growing up and would recommend it to others. It is great way to get a child's imagination going. This book has great pictures and they are full of color. It would also be great to teach kids to work as a team and be there for each other.
