Description

The "Faery Teachings" re-attune us to the spirits of the land, sea, wind, flame, human ancestry and the Elder race, which we know as the Faery. This attunement occurs through the application of age-old lore, techniques, folk practices, inner contacts and wisdom of Faery Seership. The stream of mystical teachings contained herein arises from the underworld of creation and babbles through the dark forests of the spirit-world bringing fresh inspiration and deep meaning to the seeker. The source of this stream lies in the stars and deep within the planet nourishing each living thing. It is available to quench the spiritual thirst of the committed seeker of truth. Orion Foxwood is an Elder in Celtic and Romano-Celtic Traditional Craft, a High Priest in Alexandrian tradition and is the Founding Elder of Foxwood Temple of the Old Religion. He is co-director of the Moonridge Center, a land-based nature sanctuary and mystical educational center located in Maryland. He holds a Master of Human Services degree and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He is a traditional Faery Seer and has taught these practices as well as psychic development, American Southern folk magic and traditional Craft for nearly 20 years.… (more)

The book that has had the greatest impact on me lately is one I read by Orion Foxwood titled The Faery Teachings. This book builds on theory and practice from the teachings of R.J. Stewart (found in his books such as the UnderWorld Initiation, Power Within the Land etc.), as well as the Faery

Seership tradition Orion adopted and blends traditional craft practice, and traditional faery lore.

This book has a lot of practical exercises rooted in the same sort of UnderWorld work that R.J. Stewart offers and is peppered through and through with bits of poetry from such illuminaries as Fiona McLeod/William Sharp, William Butler Yeats, Alexander Montgomerie and a very provocative piece by Dolores Ashcroft Nowicki as well as others.
This book also contains bits of faery folklore found in sources such as Mother Briggs (Katharine Mary) and W.Y. Evans-Wentz interspersed throughout the chapters.

The author cites all of his sources, has a detailed bibliography and really offers a very fresh perspective and original model for working within the context of a Traditional Faery current or stream. Foxwood also writes at the beginning that this book isn't offered specifically as a scholarly work but one that contains much in oral tradition and practical application.

It also contains a set of 9 cards, imagery designed to put you in contact with the powerful forces of Faerie and their titanic powers, and the images work as keys to unlock and manifest relationships with these primal forces. All in all, I found this book an excellent addition to any of the rudimentary foundational texts for anyone wanting to work with tradtional/faery material and have nothing but praise to say about the benefits of working with the exercises this book offers over the last several months.

I would heartily recommend this book to all who are working within the same sort of parameters as what RJ Stewart offers and who is looking for a way to incorporate the elements of Faery Seership into their own praxis.

Intriguing study of faery/folk magic. I saw Orion speak and he is a powerhouse and very funny. The ideas about place and the "river of blood" (which could be folk wisdom for DNA) I have not heard anywhere else. I don't agree with some of his conclusions, but his experience shows and the exercises

are easy to do and very powerful.
