Description

The great classic work, A Course in Miracles, is devoted to teachings about who we are, our relationships to God and with each other, and the actually mental nature of our bodies and the world. There are three constituent parts to the Course: The Text, a Workbook for Students, and the Manual for Teachers. The Text lays out the theoretical foundation for the metaphysical system of the Course. The Workbook contains a series of 365 Lessons to be practiced daily for the purpose of retraining the mind and healing our perception. Finally, the Manual contains information for and about advanced teachers of God. A Course in Miracles is also about miracles, which students understand to be, in part, a shift in perception to healed vision. But miracles are more than a shift in perception, because the shift has consequences in the world as we see it. The conversational tone of this Original Edition invites the novice student into conversation with the Author, and even advanced students of A Course in Miracles have found a new clarity and a deeper understanding from their study of the Original Edition of the Course. The restoration of the previously lost material and presentation of the text in its original sequence enlivens the conversation with the Author and gives him a presence that some feel is lacking in the later editions. When encountering Schucman and Thetford's original edition, students frequently find fresh clarity as they read its wording or new understanding. Surely study of the Original Edition is essential to your curriculum.… (more)

Sat on my shelf for quite a while - read Gary Renard and Marianne Williamson to introduce me to it gently - started reading in Feb 2008 when I moved back home to care for my dying mother. It carried me through. Applied the daily lessons over the next 18 months bizarrely leaving the last week till

recently, 3 years after starting. Have now completed.
No need for anything else, this is all I need to know.
But other books help to expand, and whilst you only need to read and apply this one once, I will do it again. Understanding constantly deepens.

“Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God.€? This is how A Course in Miracles begins. This remarkable three-volume book was "scribed" by Dr. Helen Schucman through a process of inner dictation she identified as coming from Jesus. A clinical and

research psychologist and tenured Associate Professor of Medical Psychology, she was assisted by the head of her department, Dr. William Thetford. A complete self-study spiritual thought system, the Course teaches that the way to universal love and peace—or remembering God—is by undoing guilt through forgiving others. The Course focuses on the healing of relationships and making them holy. A Course in Miracles also emphasizes that it is but one version of the universal curriculum, of which there are "many thousands." Although the language of the Course is that of traditional Christianity, it expresses a non-sectarian, non-denominational spirituality.

It is not very often we come across a book that says so much about who we are and why we are here. The error in perception, the illusion of separation, and why there is no such thing as guilt and sin are all central to its theme, and yet there is so much more. The wording of the text is almost

biblical in tone, but such is the strength of its message it cannot fail to inspire those who open its pages. If you are genuine in your desire to understand the true meaning of your existence, including the cause of all your pain and suffering, then this really is the beginning of a journey that will change your life forever.

`Truth is restored to you through your desire, as it was lost to you through your desire for something else. Open the holy place that you closed off by valuing the "something else," and what was never lost will quietly return.'

It is a truly inspirational book without comparison. My only advice is that you take your time and understand the true depth of its message.

Brought to popular awareness by Marianne Williamson (A Return to Love). Channeled by Helen Schucman and transcribed by William Thetford, professors at Columbia University.

The book contains a text, daily lessons, and a text for teachers. Subject matter is exactly what the title says it is.

book sat on a shelf in my apartment for some time, before I began to read it and apply the lessons as it recommends. I now study the Course daily and attend a "Circle" once a week to share with other students its application in my life.

Our 'Circle of Light' meets in Los Angeles once a week, and our Master Teacher has organized Circles in Detroit, New York, Reno, Minneapolis, Austin, Denver, and other cities throughout the country and abroad.

After about 25 years of seeing references to this book and actually thumbing through it in a bookstore two times but passing it up, I, along with my husband, was finally guided to it after reading Disappearance of the Universe by Gary Renard. Now we are both Course students, a lifelong schooling!

The Course has changed our lives. We meet once a week with our neighbor who is also a Course student. Thank you, Jesus, for the Course in Miracles! The beautiful thing about the Course is that it would be practical to anyone even if they couldn't believe that it was dictated by Jesus.

Much spiritual truth exists in these pages.

It is another book that takes Discipline. It is a book about reality and spirituality. I am still after ten years trying to fully grasp concepts in this book. I believe if you can do this book as it is supposed to be which on a daily basis it will work.

Finally a book that makes sense to my logical mind. There are no other books out there that better explains what this world is all about.
