Description

A new age is coming...The King will come...and he will rule forever in Avalon. Through the generations the women of Avalon prepare for the coming of the Defender, the sacred king who will guard the old ways of the Britons and save their land from destruction. On the holy isle of Avalon, hidden in the mists between the world of Faerie and the world of men, they wait. But a Merlin is made amongst the Druids once more, and the day of the Defender, who will come to be known as Arthur, draws close. A spellbinding historical fantasy, Lady of Avalon links the bestselling novels in the Avalon series--The Forests of Avalon and The Mists of Avalon.… (more)

Extremely depressing and rather perturbing, this book serves more as a bridge than a work enjoyable as a stand-alone.

A prequel to Mists of Avalon, this book is of interest to MBZ fans and those hungry for more Mists, but definitely not in the same class of writing and storytelling.
LibraryThing member justine
the book that links the roman-era priestesses with the Arthurian

Good, not great. Not as much feeling or romance as mists.

Quite enjoyable but not to be compared with 'Mists' or 'Atlantis'

I have always enjoyed reading books about King Authur and his Knights of the Round Table. This book focus is on the Druid Priestesses. If you like fantasy you will love this book. It keeps you turning the page.

Great rendition of Arthurian legend from a woman's perspective and the goddess cult that might have been.
