Description

Madeline M. White was born on February 19, 1944, in a log cabin in the Long Hollow area, near Sisseton, South Dakota. She was sent to the Tekakwitha Orphanage at an early age & later attended Wahpeton Indian School. Madeline states, "I wrote because I did not want to forget the old stories I heard from my grandparents & mother." Madeline's two Dakota Ti-Pi spirit legend stories & drawings help all of us better understand the respect & reverence her people have for this world & beyond. These stories can be told in Dakota, Lakota & Nakota. Translating these stories does take some time because of the need to keep the stories true to the legends, giving you a beautiful feeling of the old Sioux legends as they have been passed down through the generation.
