In 1934 part of a Van Eyck masterpiece was stolen from Ghent Cathedral. It has never been found. In this book, Karl Hammer reports the story told to him by Tom R., an art historian who as a very young man was enlisted to spy for the CIA & MI5 during the Second World War in order to trace the whereabouts of the fine art stolen by the Nazis.
