Yes the characterisations and dialogue are old-fashioned, (what else would you expect from a book of this age and, for that matter, of Dennis Wheatley in general) but there's no denying the pacing and cliff-hangers that keep you reading this fun adventure story. Also impressive was the obvious

research Wheatley had done into the various theories of the time concerning Atlantis. I really found those passages interesting.

As long as you are able to make allowances for when it was written, this is a great story and a really good read. One of Wheatley's best in my opinion (even though I generally prefer his black magic stories).
