Description
Arranged chronologically, the material gathered together here traces the development of witchcraft from early Hebrew and Christian beliefs through the witch theory and trials of the Middles Ages to the witchcraft literature of the Roman Inquisition. The volumes include descriptions of witchcraft by regions and trace witchcraft's decline in the face of materialistic philosophers, such as Descartes, and later skeptics.
