Written almost like an American version of the "Handbook for the Barefoot Doctors of China", this book is a compendium of various folk remedies to various complaints. Various infusions (teas), poultices (plasters) and herbal massage aids are cataloged and cross indexed to various maladies. Also

like the "Handbook", the illustrations are not detailed, but they will give you the idea of what is being discussed.

This volume was originally published in 1975, so some of the sources of the herbals mentioned may no longer be available. While many people have successfully used the remedies collected here, I would not consider this a complete replacement for medical advice.
