Description

This is the official technical manual and curriculum for Nihon Goshin Aikido. Nihon Goshin Aikido was founded by Shihan Shodo Morita in Japan in the 1940s. It was brought to the United States in 1963 by Shihan Richard A Bowe. The book is presented by the senior instructors of the Nihon Goshin Aikido Association.

Library's review

This book documents the Nihon Goshin Aikido curriculum, providing a description of all the skills that students must acquire to reach Sho-dan (first degree black belt) level, at which point they are responsible for passing along those skills to others. In addition, this book will provide

practitioners of other styles of the martial arts a very broad overview of our unique system and the similarities and difference that exist between it and other more well-known and extensively practiced styles of aikido.

It is our hope that this understanding and appreciation will influence many readers to seek out and enroll as students in our dojos so that this unique and beautiful art may continue to grow and flourish.

For many years, practitioners of Nihon Goshin Aikido have sought a resource to augment the dedicated and arduous effort that they put forth routinely in the dojo. This reference has been developed as just such a resource by a group of the senior instructors of the Nihon Goshin Aikido Association under the technical supervision of Shihan Richard A. Bowe, the United States Director of the Nihon Goshin Aikido Association. It is an adjunct to proper instruction, offered in the hope that it can assist in reinforcing the lessons learned in the dojo.
