The art of Wing Chun is a fast, direct, no nonsense style of Kung Fu made famous by Bruce Lee. It inspired him in his search for the perfect martial art style. Our series, written by K. T. Chao and John Weakland presents the three levels of training: Siu Lim Tao, Chum Kil, Bil Jee. This is the second or intermediate level, Chum Kil (Kiu). All the training necessary to achieve the second level is clearly presented in the book. It is lavishly illustrated by photographs and direct descriptions of each movement.
Library's review
This volume shows the second level of wing chun kung fu, chum kil. This means 'searching for the bridge', the bridge being the forearm. The aim of this level is to use the methods learned in the more static sil lim tao whilst on the move. This requires a much higher level of skill and coordination.

The first section of the book shows the new techniques of chum kil, with training methods, exercises and applications whilst the second section demonstrates the whole of the chum kil set through a series of 130 photographs with accomanying captions. The excellent postures of author Chao and his American pupil Weakland make this book a first class guide for wing chun students. It may also serve as an inspiration and source of ideas for all students of martial arts. Though strictly speaking it should be studied only after the first volume on sil lim tao is understood, students may still be tempted to dip into it before then as it throws light on the movements of the first volume.Contents
