Long recognized for its benefits to the body, mind, and spirit, T'ai Chi Ch'uan has been practiced in China for thousands of years, and is now enjoying unprecedenteed popularity in the West. Considered both a 'soft' martial art and a type of moving meditation. T'ai Chi employs slow, graceful

movements that have been shown to reduce stress, tone muscles, imporve balance and circulation, and combat fatigue.

Although its benefits can be realized by practitioners of all ages, T'ai Chi is especially helpful for the elderly and others who may not be unable to undertake more vigorous physical activity.

The Foldout Book of T'ai Chi Ch'uan overcomes the limitations of other books on the subject through its use of over 1500 line drawings on eighteen foldout posters, long enough (at 36') to show complete sequences of the essential movements from both front and back views. These posters can be removed and mounted on a wall, allowing practitioners to follow along smoothly and sequentially, without having to stop and turn pages. Shaded diagrams under each position indicate how to move the feet and distrubute weight properly, and important component of T'ai Chi movement that is not clearly indicated in other printed presentations.

Loni Liebermann and Andrea Bilger have both practiced and taught T'ai chi for more than twelve years. They conceived of the foldout book as result of their dissatisfaction with other publications on the practice of T'ai Chi Ch'uan.
