Jean Jacques Machado is a sixth-degree black belt and the head instructor at the Jean Jacques Machado Academy in Tarzana, Califrorna. After dominating the competitive areana in Brazil, winning all major championships man times, Machado comes to the United states in 1992, where he went on to become four-time American Brazilian Jiu-jitsu champion, Sambo champion, ADCC Submission Wrestling champion, and Black Belt Super challenge champion. His talents have been showcased in several major motion pictures and television shows. He is a efense tactics consultant to the Los Angeles Police Department, an advisor to the Navy's Special Warfare Develoopment Group, and an instructor for the Navy Seals.

Kid Peligro, a leading martial arts journalist, is a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and has twice won the World Masters title. Peligro has been coauthor of some of the most successful martial arts titles of recent years, including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: Theory and Techniques, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Self-Defense Techniques, and The Gracie way. He lives in California.
