yet he would never tell you this directly. His book contains a plethora of information and stories that are meticulously researched. His style is to speculate as little as possible and to let the reader know exactly where the limits of knowledge are located.

There are typographical errors and the syntax could be better, but it is not hard to read despite this and should be studied by any serious student of Okinawan Karate, no matter what style.-W.C. Yarbrough

I own one of the first copies of this book. I found it very helpful in understanding the History of Karate in Okinawa. It also provides a good list of the various Kata's used by the Okinawan styles. It is a good companion to the Mark Bishop book. -D. Moore
