About the author
The oldest soneo Tokujiro Namikioshi, founder of the Japan Shiatsu College, Toru Namikoshi was born on the island ot Hokkaido, in 1931. After graduating from the Art Department of Nihon University, in 1953, he traveled to the United States, where he spent seven years introducing shiatsu. Upon returning to Japan, he became assistant direcor of the Japan Shiatsu School. A leading advocate of modern shiatsu therapy, he makes yearly trips to the United States, Canada, and Europe to hold seminars and offer guidance. In this way he contributes greatly to the internationalization of this therapeutical system. He has written Shiatsu Therapy: Theory and Practice and The Complete Book of Shiatsu Therapy, Japan Publications, Inc., and many book in Japanese.
