reflexology has been used by the Chinese for 5,000 yeasrs. However, it was introduced to our medical profession in 1913, by Dr. William H. Fitzgerald, who graduated from the University of Vermont and served for many years on the staff of Boston City Hospital. At the time he brought reflexology to the attention of the medical field, he was active as the head of the nose and throat clinic at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. According to him, with proper application of pressure and massage to cetain areas of the feet (relative to corresonding parts of the body), great stimulating, yet relaxing, effects can be noticed and enjoyed. Also, many bodily fuctions can be restored to normal.
