What is Aikido?
Aikido has been described as: A way of centering; An esoteric Samuai method of hand-to-hand combat; A means of leading an attacker's mind; A path to understanding the way of the universe; A path to understanding the way of the universe; One of the newest and most scientific
Aikido can be any or all of these. It is also one particular 'Path of Truth'. It is a warrior's path, yet one which leads us to love an aggressor, meet hostility with peaceful reconciliation, and bring harmony into hostile situation.
At the same time, Aikido remains a means of meditation a way of bringing into harmony all of our powers; physical, mental and spiritual.
Wayne Tourda was awarded his black belt from the Yoshinkan School of Aikido in Japan. He was then selected along with 19 other black belts to attend Kensyu training (a special class for advanced Aikido training). Upon completion of Kensyu and receiving his diploma, he was then chosen to participate in a special instructors' course.
His academic achievements are both a Bachelor and Masters degree in the area of Political Philosophy along with a California teaching credential in Physical Education. He has taught Aikido at various universities and colleges throughout Canada and the United States.
