continuing to educate himself further this way.

Since 1999, he has been passing on his knowledge in the Bodo Roedel Aikido School in Cologne, Germany. His instruction emphasis on a modern, well-thought out and dynamic form of aikido.

Aikido is a constant search for the ideal technique. The longer you practice, the deeper this search will go and the better you will understand how demanding and exciting aikido actually is. The fascinating moment thereby lies in the possibility of constant self-development. One important factor here is teaching and learning the fundamental basic techniques, the other is understanding the basic learning process which the attacker and the defender are undergoing while acting with each other and against each other. After all, the pleasure you take in the movements, the exchange and the contact with other people are also important components of the communicative aspect in aikido.

Aikido is a highly develped martial art form based on standardized principles. The book uses numerous examples of movements in order to explain this. Both the theoretical background and the method of learning aikido are clearly explained. In this way the book is interesting for the beginner and advanced pupil alike.

Besides this, the basics of the foot and hand movements in aikido are covered. Finer points of detail in the basic techniques are also covered-in addition applications of the basic techniques are explained. The roles of the defender and the attacker in aikido are gone into in detail. The book content is in accordance with the principles of the mainstream of the worldwide aikido orgainizaton (Aikikai).

The book concludes with a section containing additional information about aikido and its training.
