This is the latest installment of the Llama Llama series. Again, I am forced to read this book 3x in a row. This is my children's favorite series.

I love the interaction between Mama Llama and Llama Llama. My kids seem to relate well to the stories because Llama Llama reminds them of themselves. We
Show More
have read it so often that my kids say the ending word (so they help me rhyme). This author has done a really good job of telling cute story that entertains kids. I especially like towards the end when Mama Llama catches Llama Llama's cold, and now Llama Llama is doing the stuff mama did for him.

Nice read for daytime or bedtime.

This is a FUN series with a wonderful story about Llama Llama who's just not feeling great. The illustrations are big, full of expression and make it easy to sympathize with Llama llama. Very large text for beginning readers make it easy for kids to read the story themselves and the rhyming words
Show More
will help little ones listen.

There are several books in this series - I'd love to start collecting them. They all look wonderful.
You're going to LOVE this book - it's excellent as a birthday or Christmas gift.

Be sure to check out the Llama Llama website for games, activities and learn more about the books and the author. You can also decorate your own cards and print them out.

Uh-oh! Lovable little Llama Llama isn’t feeling well…which means a day home with Mama. After some time in bed and lots of attention from Mama, Llama Llama is starting to feel better, but now it’s Mama who is sick! Kids who have ever had a sick day from school will relate to this familiar tale
Show More
of love and germs. With the same cute rhyming and big, vibrant illustrations that made Llama Llama Red Pajama and Llama Llama Mad at Mama such big hits, Home with Mama is a welcome addition to this popular picture book series. Recommended. For ages 3-7.

Llama Llama is sick and has to stay home from school with his mother. It doesn’t take long for him to get bored at home. Later that day, Mama Llama comes down with the same sickness and Llama Llama has an opportunity to help Mama with the same kindnesses with which Mama took care of him.

Lovely

rhyming text.

Summary:
Llama Llama wasn't feeling well and had to stay home from school. His mama took care of him. While he was at home his mama read him books and gave him medicine. Llama Llama fell asleep and when he woke up he was feeling better. He played and played until he ran out of things to do. He then
Show More
noticed his mama wasn't feeling good. He decided what was best for his mama and took care of her like she did with him when he was sick.

Personal Reaction:
I remembered when I had sick days home from school and my grandma would take care of me. When it was the other way around and my grandma was sick, I would try to take care of her like she did with me. I still do it until this day. I love how this story brings back memories about sick days.

Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. In the classroom, the teacher could have the students share what a sick day is like for them and have them share who usually takes care of them.
2. This book provides a great story about helping others who are sick. In the classroom, the teacher could have their students explain what they would do to help someone feel better when they are sick.

Everyone's favorite llama isn't feeling too well. In fact, he's staying home from school today and spending the day with mama! As llama gets better, we find mama starting to get sneezy and wheezy and starting to feel crummy. But like all good llamas, our hero knows how to make her feel
Show More
better--tissues, a big fluffy pillow, books to read, and lots of love. Like all books in Anna Dewdney's Llama, Llama series, this story keeps readers engaged with fun rhymes, but Dewdney's pictures stand out in this book as well. She does a wonderful job illustrating the blurry eyes and red noses Llama has throughout the book. Highly recommended for preschool to early elementary age group.

Llama Llama Home with Mama is a picturebook about llama who catches a cold and has to stay home from school and let his mom take care of him. His mom gives him toys, rest, medicine and reads to him to make him feel better. He soon recovers and is back to his playful self. Sadly Mama Llama starts to

cough and llama llama helps his mom get over her sickness. He lets her rest and reads a book to her. They read the book together and Mama Llama and llama llama enjoy their time together.

I personally loved this book! It was cute and the illustrations really showed the llama’s emotions. It reminded me of all the times that my mother took care of me when I was sick and home from school. I liked the fact that this story was about llamas, which is a different choice of animal.

This book could be used in several way in the classroom. There is rhyming throughout the book so it could be used as introduction in a rhyming unit. The children could pick out the words that rhyme and create their own story. Most of the words in this book are adjectives so it could also be used in an adjective unit.

Llama Llama Home with Mama by Anna Dewdney is the fifth of the Llama Llama books and the first one I've read with my daughter. I don't know if she's been reading them at school or just heard about them from her friends, but she insisted on adding this volume to her collection of books.

Llama Llama

wakes up not feeling right. After a failed attempt at breakfast, Mama Llama sends him back to bed. He's staying home from school today. Mama knows just what he needs and later when she catches the same cold, it's his turn to take charge.

Told in an easy rhyming scheme and adorable illustrations, this is a book that lends itself to group reads and re-reads. My favorite page has Llama Llama in bed, sticking his tongue out. He looks so fed up with being sick and he's only just been put to bed.

I think we'll go back and read the other four books.

Summary:
Llama, Llama Home with Mama is a childrens picture book that takes you through a Llama's day of having a cold. When the mama Llama gets sick herself, little Llama then takes care of her.

Personal Reaction:
This book is affectionate and endearing. The little Llama is taken care of by his mama
Show More
and coddled until he feels better, showing children affection and love. This is another one of our nightly readers.

Extension Ideas: I would have a lesson on germ exchange and keeping healthy. I would peel a potato and have the entire class pass it around and in the end, the once white potato is now dirty and browning due to germs and dirt.
I would ask for the health department to send a rep to my class to give information about how we could keep germs at bay and keep from getting sick.
