I've been through this information and tried a lot of it, and this is good basic treatment. Eat well and exercise - but this gives you details. My incidental take-away is that many of the Big Pharma companies are caught up in a competition toward the bottom, which is so easy with billion-dollar
ASPIRIN. Taking daily "aspirin therapy" to prevent heart attack increases likelihood of stomach bleeding by 3x, whether or not the aspirin is enteric-coated or buffered or what brand. Take 1/4 or a baby aspirin [120], and prescription-strength Pepcid to reduce risk of ulcers [121].
GERD. After lifestyle modification, the first line of drug therapy is antacids. Next option is OTC acid blockers like Zantac or Pepcid AC. Tagamet is by prescription and interacts with other drugs. Last resort is surgery, even a laparoscopic fundoplication, wrapping the upper portion of the stomach around the lower end of the esophagus.[149]
