Description

Where were you when Diana died? For Trevor Rees-Jones the answer is simple: he was in the same hospital as her, fighting for his own life a few rooms away. As bodyguard to her companion Dodi Fayed he was with the couple as their friendship developed during the weeks before their arrival in Paris, and then in the car with them when it crashed in the Alma tunnel. Miraculously, Trevor survived. But the struggle to recover from his appalling injuries was only the beginning of a bigger battle: to restore his reputation, as his employer, the controversial owner of Harrods, Mohamed Al Fayed, ended up naming Trevor responsible for the crash in his increasingly desperate search for culprits and conspiracy. Now, for the first time, Trevor Rees-Jones tells his own extraordinary story.… (more)

Very well written book about the last days of Diana. It does leave you wanting more as you still do not know what really happened in the tunnel that night and why Mr. Rees-Jones put on his seatbelt and no one else did. All in all a very good read.

Td who was riding in the car in Paris where Princess Diana and her boyfriend Dodi were killed, is of interest in the account of the time (before teh accident) the author, who was employed by Dodi's father to watch over his son. Dodi seems totally irresponsible and was a pill to be a bodygusrd for.

But the book is of course not objective, being designed to show the author did nothing wrong. I think the suthor is right. After the author and Dodi's father came to a parting of the ways the father sought to blame the bodyguard for what happened (besides seeking to blame the British royal family) but it seems clear that the driver of the car--driving, while drunk, 90 miles an hour on city streets, was the primary culprit. The author foolishly failed to seek damages from the driver and the driver's employer (Dodi's father). The account in the book after the author returns to England from the Paris hohis 2000 book by the bodyguarspital is less interesting. The complex legal proceedings are not explained so I could understand them. I should have read a more objective book published longer after the tragic events.

Trevor Rees-Jones was the soul survivor of the car crash that killed Princess Diana and Dodi Al-Fayd. He had a long recovery, as they had to do facial reconstruction and he suffered from being the only survivor of the crash. He was accused of not doing enough to prevent the crash and stopping Henri
