Breakthrough is a very readable continuation of Strieber's first two books on the subject of his extraterrestrial visitor encounters, but one can see the quality noticeably decline as he focuses in on his audience of true believers. For me the two predecessors were like being in a

dream—everything appearing strange, not knowing what was real or not, fanciful events happening all around—and then this book is like waking up—reality breaks in like a crack of light through a window blind, the un-realness begins to fade and you blink awake thinking, "Wait, what's going on?"

A glut of books from Mr. Strieber on UFOs and visitors follow this one, and I've poked through a few with fading interest, but for the casual reader who enjoyed Communion and Transformation I recommend ending with this entry.
