This book is an incredible resource for parents and kids alike. It explains in simple, easy to understand terms gender identities and provides terminology. It is a wonderful example of representation (and full of cute art, too!)

your heart. No matter what your gender identity is, you are OK and loved exactly the way you are. By introducing several characters throughout it's pages the book reveals many of the different ways to be a girl or boy or neither one and the correct terminology to describe their differing gender The illustrations are delightfully diverse. A child can easily find themselves or a friend on the pages. The author has included helpful vocabulary and discussion starters for teachers and parents in the end pages to aid in follow-up discussions and future conversations.

This book celebrates gender diversity and individuality in a wonderful social-emotional way. It helps children view situations from different perspectives, appreciate and value diversity, make inferences about the feeling of others, develop empathy and engage in prosocial behavior. It can be a mirror, window or sliding door for the reader.
