First I wanted to read this because of the author, I've read many of her novels and they are just great. This one spoke to me because I've not traveled to the Outer Banks yet
but love the movies I've seen of it. Very detailed descriptions of the water and seashore
Amy is there to find out what happened to her brother Ben. In November he had been surfing and those in the room to help her with missing details told her of what they each knew.
Curtis has a few secrets about the event and he's lost his sister also, and he's left to raise her child, Raine.
Dara is in town for the senator's campaign and she has questions of her own about the deaths-she might have some more clues as well.
Bit confusing at first with all the characters-keeping them straight but after a while you get a handle on things and the events..
Heather is there as a spy and as the story goes along we find out what her motive is...
So many clues to go through and I love the prayer journal-never knew of them. Tenses rise when things heat up: Custody, drugs and love...
Finding religion had saved Gina's life one time.
Loved reading about the bank horses and the food is to die for! Loved hearing about the herbs.
Good story line, adventure, love, food and travel and love all mixed in.
I received this book from Thomas Nelson via Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion
It's not a "fast" moving story but very interesting and it will keep you wondering till the end.
I found the story a little slow but once I got about 2/3's

Book Review: The mystery was a lingering scent in every aspect of the book. I liked the lead characters although sometimes Amy was a little annoying at points but overall enjoyable. Curtis was a little judgmental about Ben when his sister too had a history, but no more so than anyone would be. I liked Edith and the sheriff along with the main characters to Tidewater Inn. It was a great continuation although there was no need to read the other book to be able to enjoy this book. The cover picture is what really drew me to this book and the inside of the book made it worthwhile by itself. I read this with some putting it down because of the intensity of the story. I am now hopeful to visit these characters again in the next book. It was a wild ride in the last 3rd of the book but what a fun and suspenseful one at that.
I would like to thank Net Galley and Thomas Nelson Publishing for allowing me to read and review this book in return for a free copy and I was never asked to write a favorable review by anyone.
Amy is also mourning a sibling, her brother Ben who drowned a few months before on the island. Amy has come to the island to look into the circumstances of Ben’s death after getting a mysterious email. Amy and Curtis know each other and are mutually attracted. Amy has no idea that Ben is the father of Raine and is stunned when she finds out. Both Amy and Curtis find themselves enmeshed in a mystery around the circumstances of Raine’s birth and the deaths of their siblings. Their budding romance hits a lot of stumbling blocks related to the complicated relationship of Gina and Ben and the consequences of their actions.
There is romance, mystery, family drama, all kinds of interesting things happening at a very fast pace throughout the book. I started reading and didn’t stop until I was finished with the book. This is my first book by this author and I wondered if there had been a previous book in the series. There is one titled Tidewater Inn which I am going to have to read. This book also sets up a possible future book with two of Curtis’ fellow USCG team members which looks like it would be pretty good.
Mystery Suspense fans, get it on your wishlist for a great Summer Read!
It will be released July 9.13 and I will review accordingly.

This is one of those stories that once you pick it up it’s hard to put down. It’s loaded with twists and turns that take you down unexpected paths, which is always a treat. I enjoyed getting to know Amy and Curtis. Both are loyal and faith-driven people who care deeply about others. If you’ve read Tidewater Inn, (book 1 in the Hope Beach Series) you’ll be happy to know that Alec and Libby are very much a part of this story. It was fun catching up with them. You’ll find danger, suspense, romance and an ending that was both expected and unexpected. I think this author did a great job of showing the effects of sin and greed in a person’s life but also how God can change a heart. But unfortunately, though a heart is changed, there are still consequences to our behavior. If you enjoy a good romantic suspense then head on over to Hope Island. If you’ve never visited there before I recommend you start with Tidewater Inn, followed by a visit to Rosemary Cottage.

***FTC-I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Amy, a naturally optimistic person, has a hard time being transparent with Curtis - a man who becomes more than just a passing fancy for her. At the beginning, the romance felt stiff and pressured as it seemed they were always accusing the other's sibling of dubious deeds and neither were willing to believe that their own sibling wasn't perfect and having flaws. One thing that I very much enjoyed about this book, was the natural way Amy approached life. Using herbs and tinctures, etc, I found those parts extremely interesting and actually think a little more would have been awesome. I love stuff like that and was thrilled to see it take a major role in this book. If you like plot twists and turns, and don't like being able to figure out an entire ending, this book will deliver and I found myself doing the 'argh! I didn't see that one coming!' at the end.
This was a good book that I would recommend to lover's of Christian fiction. This book isn't overtly Christian, and some non-Christian fiction readers would find it enjoyable as well.
*My thanks to the publisher for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. These thoughts are my own, and I was not required they be positive.**
This book is a good "beach read". It's not one to think too hard about (some of the plot twists are pretty unrealistic) but the danger level does keep your interest.
Amy Lange is mourning her brother Ben, who died
I found myself surprised by a few things that happened during this story. But I very much enjoyed the spark between Curtis and Amy and watching them work together to solve this mystery. This could easily be read as a stand alone story, but it is book two in the Hope Beach series, and if you read book one first, ("Tidewater Inn"), you will get to see them in this story also.

What an exciting read! Colleen Coble shares a tale of redemption, hope, faith, love and healing in the second installment of the Hope Beach series. One of
Recently, Amy lost her brother Ben and returns to the beach to heal and find out the truth of what really happened to her brother. Amy wouldn’t have questioned what happened to Ben if not for an email she was sent that cryptically hinted that something else may have happened to him. Curtis Ireland is a Coastie and also a resident of the outer banks, and he has a secret that might just change Amy’s future.
In a thrilling story, audiences will journey to the truth that at first doesn’t appear to set people free from the secrets that bind their hearts. As I turned the pages, I enjoyed how Colleen reveals the intricate personalities of her characters, the back story, and how one life touches another for good or ill. The thread of faith runs throughout the novel, and it pulls in the reader from the first page until the very last. I loved how secrets that find the light of truth can lead to healing, hope, sometimes pain but in the end all can be made well.
I look forward to reading the last book in the series Seagrass Pier. I did find it helpful to read the first book in the series, Tidewater Inn. Enjoy!
