Description

Set in Poland during World War II. Innocent and naive 8-year-old Bruno is bored and restless in his new home. Ignoring his mother, he sets off on an adventure in the woods. He comes across a high fence which separates him from the people he can see through it. Soon he meets a young boy in striped pajamas, and a surprising friendship develops.

friends. While the family is fictitious, the historical background is real. Diaries and memoirs from some family members whose Fathers ran those camps show the schizophrenic existence they lived as they tried to pretend it wasn't happening. The film is very powerful and would be a great classroom aid for properly prepared older students (Jr. High and High School). It would also be a great family film and discussion starter to teach the Holocaust.
