Well, this author has taken her readers back to Sea Haven with this her third book in the Sisters of the Heart series and it's a cracker full of non stop action. Fans of this author were
Airiana has finally found somewhere safe where she feels she belongs. Somehow fate has seen fit to grace her with the love of true friends who will always stand at her side. Airiana has tried to keep a low profile since her mother was brutally murdered and living in Sea Haven has finally given her a home. Airiana has an amazing gift which paints a target on her back but her friends will fight to protect her if that's what's needed and unfortunately that's what's about to happen!
Maxim is one of the much feared Prakenskii brothers, trained from childhood to infiltrate and remove any target. His latest assignment takes him to Sea Haven where he helps kidnap Airiana but Maxim has his own agenda! Taking the troublesome and very stubborn Airiana far away from her home Maxim tries to convince her that he has her safety at heart but what if it's Airianas heart in danger? Airiana has never before met a man quite like Maxim but can she really trust him? He's dangerous and about to put Airiana through more trials then should be humanly possible but together they just might survive.
I have been a fan of this author since I first discovered her Dark Carpathian series and love the suspense twist that she's putting on this newer series . I wasn't sure just how she could continue to bring fresh life to Sea Haven but have to admit these characters are just so interesting! Airiana whilst quiet and demure has a wicked sense of humour and her courage is astounding! Not all heroines are kick ass but when called for this strong woman makes a stand . As for the hero Maxim he's a bossy and arrogant type but it certainly works in this story. Emotionally scarred and alone he has had to rely solely on himself and trust does not come easy to him. Reading his journey from automaton to lover was heartwarming.
Now I've mentioned the word lover so feel I should broach the sexual content. Ms Feehan always seems to write very sensual stories that can be quite explicit but in this book it feels as if the sex takes a back seat which really works very well. So often various authors play the virgin card and have them literally at it like rabbits and it just doesn't fit! The romance here builds up gradually as the actual plot is much more important (hurray) and indeed when the couple finally get physically close it's not exactly the usual fireworks! Do not misunderstand though there is plenty of heat in this book it's just that the story is chock full of action and really fast paced . There is just so much happening as the author picks up the sex trafficking storyline from previous books and runs with it. Caution though as it's not pleasant. So incredibly strong characters, a storyline that's very emotional , villains who deserve everything that's coming to them and you just know that there's more to come! If I have a gripe it's that it ends quite abruptly but that's just me, no matter how long a book I always want more!

First Thought when Finished: Air Bound by Christine Feehan was a wonderful addition to the Sisters of the Heart Series.
Story Thoughts: This is my favorite Sisters of the Heart book so far. The story was a great combination of action, overall story arc move forward, and romance. The kids both broke my heart and gave me hope. They were so brilliantly brave in a horrible situation. Also, the slow build between Airiana and Maxim was perfectly well done. I liked their connection in element first. This will be in my reread pile.
Character Thoughts: I love Airiana! She was fierce, determined, knew her limitations, was willing to do whatever it took, and trusted her feelings. I am always cheering when someone just accepts what they know to be true. Took me a bit more to warm up to Maxim (as it should) but when I did, I swooned like my teenage self at a Bon Jovi concert. Together they were great!
Audio Thoughts:
Narrated By Phil Gigante / Length: 12 hrs and 38 mins
I love Phil but with this series he is always hit/miss for me. This time I just don't think I could get into his voice for Airiana. He did Maxim fantastically but alas it just wasn't my favorite narration of his. However, I will keep on with this in audio because he pulls the brothers off wonderfully.
Final Thoughts: Just found out it will be another year till the next one: counting down!
This is Airiana's story. She is much like Damon
Guilt over her mother's death has haunted her and led her to counselling, where she met the other 5 women with whom she now owns the farm in Sea Haven.
Out of the blue she is kidnapped, by Maxim Prakenskii, who is undercover posing as one of Evan Shackler-Gratsos' men. Maxim has no intention of handing Airiana over and has plans to escape andtake her to her birth father, Theodotus Solovyov, the same man Gavriil Prakenskii nearly died for a few years back.
Maxim is rough and ready, a hard man who doesn't believe there is any other life for him, especially if he wants to protect his brothers. But when Theodotus betrays him, and therefore Gavriil, he decides that he will take the risk of grabbing at a life with Airiana.
There's a lot of death and dark themes in this book, but it all ties in with Elle's story.
When they make it back to the farm, they warn Jonas that Evan Shackler-Gratsos will make another play for Airiana, and the Prakenskii brothers band together to fight off the threat.
This book has set the scene for the future books - that will hopefully in the end tie up all the loose ends.
I have a couple of issues with this book - once again the quality of the copy editing is pretty poor for such a well-published author, but at least this time the pace of the book was such that it was a mild distraction. My big issue is that we mever get to see the first meeting of the Prakenskii brothers! They haven't seen or spoken (according to earlier books) since they were taken away after their parents' murder, and yet there is no account of that first meeting! A huge oversight! She also says (in this book) that the brothers have a way to contact each other and that they did periodically to let each other know they were still alive. This contradicts everything she's said about the Prakenskii brothers to date! Sigh.
Regardless, if you can overlook stuff like that, you'll love this book. I think the next one is going to be REALLY exciting. Can't wait to see who (which brother) Blythe is already married to - and hear an explanation of why he's not with her.
