Description

When Detective Sergeant Duncan Hatcher is summoned to the home of Judge Cato Laird in the middle of the night to investigate a fatal shooting, he knows that discretion and kid-glove treatment are the keys to staying in the judge's good graces and keeping his job. At first glance, the case appears open-and-shut: Elise, the judge's trophy wife, interrupted a burglary in progress and killed the intruder in self-defense. But Duncan is immediately suspicious of Elise's innocent act. His gut feeling is that her account of the shooting is only partially true--and it's the parts she's leaving out that bother him. Duncan investigates further and quickly finds his career, as well as his integrity, in jeopardy--because he can't deny his increasing attraction to Elise Laird, even if she is a married woman, a proven liar, and a murder suspect.--From publisher description.… (more)

Judge Laird's trophy wife has shot a burglar. Duncan Hatcher has to figure it out. Good beach read.

Police drama set in Savannah involving a detective, a judge, his wife, and a collection of unsavory characters....crossing and double crossing each other to a surprise ending. How wonderful to find a new author with so many books to her credit. Like finding money!

This was my first novel by Sandra Brown, and I was quite happy with it. I am especially happy that she has such an arsenal of books I can read. “Ricochet” has you guessing until the very end. It was an exceptional thriller. I would recommend this book to all. I cannot wait to read another by

This is a book you do not want to miss. I always enjoy Sandra Brown books. This book was a real page turner.

This wasn’t Sandra Brown’s best, but it’s not her worst, either. The good was Brown’s ability to build suspense – she’s one of the best. But not all of the characters worked for me. Duncan was a little too ruled by his hormones, and sometimes had mood swings that didn’t make much

sense. His partner, DeeDee, was essentially the stereotypical homely girl who automatically hates anyone who is pretty whether she has a reason to or not. Elise is intended to be a mystery. You’re never quite sure which side of the equation she’s on, even at the end.

Also, the revenge plot that is the reason for everything made absolutely no sense to me. Without giving away too much, I don’t know what the person wanting revenge was thinking – they had no exit strategy. For a supposedly intelligent person, it was weak.

But, Brown does make you think hard about who you suspect and why, and that’s one of the reasons why I read her books.

This is a potboiler, with lots of action and with far too many steamy sex scenes. The detective as the main character is infatuated by a woman married to a judge whom the detective hates. There is no literary merit to the writing but the story unfolds so fast and furiously that the book is very

easy to read. The locale is Savannah, GA. Much of the scenario is not credible but you probably won't guess every twist and turn. Requires little or no concentration.

Another good one from Sandra Brown, and I loved her cop characters, Duncan and his partner Dee Dee. I got really involved in it, but the ending had to be read twice, as, again with SB, various explanations had to be made, hastily at the conclusion.

Enjoyable book. Enough twists, turns and suspense to keep me wanting to read.

Reading a Sandra Brown novel is always an entertaining treat and "Ricochet" is no exception. The homicide detective partnership pairs Detective Sergeant Duncan Hatcher and Detective DeeDee Bowen with the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department. There is mystery, suspense, romance, betrayal,

secrets, police investigations, and court room drama for a roller coaster reading experience filled with unexpected twists and turns. At the end of each chapter, I found myself saying, "just one more chapter."
