In Graham’s paranormal suspense novel, Savannah is beautiful, historical and very much haunted. The Dragonslayer is one of the most haunted taverns in the city and its owner, Gus Anderson, is descended from the original owner’s pirate brother, Blue, who just happens to still haunt the

building.

Gus contacts his granddaughter, Abby, FBI agent in training, concerned enough about something he is not yet ready to reveal to anyone. Shortly after Abby arrives, she stumbles across Gus’s dead body. Her instincts tell her it was foul play but the local cops don’t believe it. Determined to find answers, Abby sends Jackson Crowe an email with the details. After reading the email, Jackson sends Malachi Gordon, a former cop with “gifts” who is now working to evaluate his interest in joining the Krewe of Hunters himself.

Abby and Malachi have similar gifts and are both equally stubborn. As sparks fly, the death count rises forcing them to work side-by-side while piecing together a story that is hard to believe. If they are to survive, they must work quickly and with each other.

When recent FBI academy graduate Abigail (Abby) Anderson returns home to the family restaurant, the Dragnonslayer, in Savannah, GA, at her grandfather's request, she finds him dead under unusual circumstances. She also discovers that a serial killer may be prowling the Savannah night. When local

authorities think her concerns are the result of her grief, she calls in a special FBI group, the Krewe of Hunters. Each member has his/her own extraordinary skills. Abby finds that she has more in common with them, especially Agent Malachi Gordon, than she ever would have imagined. But will their talents be enough to keep the killer from striking again?

I never put this novel down from the time I started page 1 until the end. I didn't even take a bathroom break! It went that fast and was enthralling. Part of the fun, I think, was that I figured out "who did it" before the FBI agents did. The clues are all there if you pay attention!

I enjoy Heather Graham Krewe of Hunters series. They are a mystery with FBI agents that all have extra senses to solve their cases. So they have romance, murder mystery, ghosts and in this story pirates.
The Night is Alive is a good mixture of history of Savannah, pirates, ghosts and a modern day

problems.
There was a few love scenes that I skipped over. I enjoyed reading it.

Abigail is a strong female character. She just finished her FBI training and is waiting to be assigned to where she will be working. Her grandfather Gus called and asked her to come home. He has a problem he does not want to discuss on the phone. Since Abigail was young she has seen her family ghost when their is a problem the famous pirate Blue Anderson.
Gus is her last living relative. She can't find him in his bar or in the apartment of above it. She does see Blue and follows him down to the underground tunnels and finds her 90 year old grandfather dead. She tries to convince local police it was murder. No one believes her so she emails FBI Agent Krewe and tells him that there is a family ghost, murder victims and asks for help.

Malachi Gordon has been sent by Krewe to see if their is a case that the FBI should be working especially one with their talents. Malachi is thinking of joining the FBI and becoming on of Krewe's Hunters. Malachi can see and talk to ghosts. He used to be a policeman and quit and became a P.I.
because he does not have to explain how he knows extra stuff. Malachi has been a widower for 5 years.

The cop in charge of the murders just happens to be ex-partner of Malachi's when they both worked in New Orleans police department. He knows the extra that Malachi comes up with and is willing to work with him.
Abigail's family have lived and owned the tavern Dragonslayer since 1750s. The kidnappings and murders seem to be around her area. The latest missing female was last seen at the bar. The bar is a pirate bar wearing costumes and on weekends pirates fights. The tunnel is supposed to be locked but Abby found it unlocked.
A lot of the story happens on a pirate ship, in tunnels under Savannah and in the tavern. I really like the fun and scary mixture of the story settings. I was still guessing who the murder was till he revealed himself.
A couple of scenes with the ghost of pirate Blue Anderson and other ghosts were moving or funny. The ghost characters were fun to read about and learn about the history and what is going on now and in the past.
I was given this ebook to read and asked to give honest review of it by Netgalley.

I have enjoyed this series each time I've read one of the books, granted I picked it up in the middle and am slowly trying to catch up my reading and while most of the core characters are in each book it's not necessary to be strict about the reading order, which I really like. So this one takes

place in Savannah and involves pirates (who doesn't like pirates especially gentlemen pirates?) and underground tunnels with a dash of ghost thrown in. When Abby is first introduced to Malachi she was a bitch that I wasn't sure I'd like but I guess I'd feel the same in her circumstances. Just graduating from the academy then losing my grandfather while everyone thinks I'm seeing conspiracy theories all around me? Yeah, I get it. I'd be prickly too. Malachi took it like a champ though. The actual mystery was a pretty good one....I kept changing my mind on who I thought it was and didn't figure it out til the very end. These books are always a recommend for me. Looking forward to more of these books.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

Great Read! I didn't know until the last few pages who the killer was. Even then I was surprised.

Abby Anderson is a recent graduate of the FBI academy. Since childhood Abby has been able to see Blue Anderson, the family protector. The only thing is Blue has been dead for two hundred and fifty years.

Malachi Gordon has been sent by Jackson Crow of "The Krewe of Hunters" on a two-fold

mission...to see if this is a case that the FBI should be working especially one with their talents and to see if Malachi would fit into their organization with his police background and his special ability to see, hear and speak to the dead.

It's not long before people begin to disappear and the bodies begin to pile up. Abby, Malachi and The Krewe must find a killer even if he or she may be a long time friend.

This is book#10 in the series. These books can all be read in any order as the characters are all reintroduced and brief background is given in each book they appear in so that you have no problem knowing what is happening. "The Krewe" work in teams and a different team is sent each time depending on where the need is.

all of the "Krewe of Hunter" books are fun reads. Just the right amount of fantasy, romance, and mystery with both the new and the old characters.

I'm a huge fan of Heather Graham's Krewe of Hunters series and always look forward to reading one. The Night is Alive is set in one of my all time favorite places to visit, Savannah, Georgia, so this one already had that going for it. What absolutely hooked me was the addition of pirates! Yes,

pirates! As with the other Krewe books, The Night is Alive included little bits and bobs of interesting historical facts about Savannah during the mid-1700s. In present day Savannah, though, we have Abby Anderson, a recent FBI graduate, who receives a cryptic call from her grandfather asking her to come home, but when she gets there, she finds him dead, She tries to convince the local police that her grandfather was murdered, but when they won't listen, she contacts the FBI's notorious Krewe of Hunters, who send FBI Consultant Malachi Gordon to investigate. When more people turn up dead, it becomes even more urgent to solve this puzzle before the list grows even longer.

I enjoyed the romance between Abby and Malachi but felt it was a bit rushed. The mystery was interesting, and although I ended up figuring out who the murderer was before the end, the why and how were a surprise.

All in all, I enjoyed The Night is Alive and look forward to continuing with the series.

4/5 stares.
