Ok book, but not good enough to make want to read any of his others

In the field of popular fiction David Baldacci is far ahead of the competition. Continuing his string of New York Times bestsellers, Baldacci presents his most electrifying story to date-a novel of nonstop action, vividly etched characters, and an astounding vision of the inner sanctums of our

government. Not far from Washington, D.C., in a wooded area of Northern Virginia, a small house at the end of a gravel road serves a secret purpose. With its sophisticated security apparatus and hidden miniaturized cameras, it is being used by the FBI to interview one of the most important witnesses the agency has ever had, a young woman with an incredible story to tell. But a few people know about the secret meeting. And for them, a violent drama is about to begin. One man-a local private investigator named Lee Adams-has come to the house on the orders of his client. Another man, a hired killer, stakes out the house on orders from his powerful paymasters. And the witness, Faith Lockhart, is coming to tell the FBI everything she knows about the powerful lobbyist with whom she has worked, a man who manipulates U.S. government policy and who, in the process, made some very dangerous enemies. Then, before Faith can tell her story, the hit man pulls the trigger and the wrong victim falls. Now Faith Lockhart is on the run-from the most dangerous people in America-with Lee Adams, a man she doesn't know, yet must trust. A relentless chase novel that unfolds as both the FBI and a killer search for Faith and Lee, this is also a searing and utterly suspenseful tale of power gone mad in Washington, and of one woman's desperate attempt to break out of a web of corruption and terror that reaches much further than even she can know. In the hands of master storyteller David Baldacci, Saving Faith elevates the thriller to a new level and poses stunning questions about the rules we live by, the rules we are governed by-and what happens when some people make rules of their own...

Not one of Baldacci's best. The characters are not well fleshed out. But yet it does make for a fast read. That being said we have a whistler-blower, Faith Lockhart, who has information that will allow the FBI to put away quite a few Congressmen. Problem is the CIA has been using her boss to gather
Show More
Intel on these same Congressmen for their own purposes. In steps an unsuspecting Private Investigator who just happens to do everything he can to save Faith. All the while both the FBI and the CIA are seeking them after.

This story has blackmail and plot twist that you will not see coming. But in hindsight you will see they were well developed. The ending of the book is actually pure Baldacci. It is well written and is worth the read.

Another excellent book from David Baldacci, involving CIA private battles with the FBI in Washington. The Faith of the title is Faith Lockhart, assistant to Danny Buchanan, ace Washington lobbyist who is under the control of a ruthless CIA maverick who will stop at nothing to prevent Faith telling

what she knows to the FBI.

I've been reading Baldacci's books off and on for the past couple years. Saving Faith has to be one of the more intense tales he's written in my opinion, and a very good one.
Faith Lockhart is a partner to a very successful DC lobbyist, who has been blackmailed by a CIA offical to bribe members of
Show More
Congress to do things they want in Washington. But when this CIA official threatens her boss, and he cuts off contact with her, she figures her only recourse is cutting a deal for him and her with the FBI. Problem is, the CIA team has infiltrated everywhere, and they want her dead before she can reveal whats been going on.
Lee, a PI hired by Faith's boss, see's the attempt on Faith's life, and the murder of an FBI agent. he rescues faith, and help her escape. With the FBI hot on thier trail, no one is sure who is worth trusting, who will kill them first, and if they will survive.

Enjoyable relaxation reading, but not particularly memorable. One scene and its aftermath I found quite troubling for the way in which it seemed to condone or excuse behaviour I considered highly problematic ...

A good read, but not spectacular.

A good, but not great, Baldacci novel.

Very Good. Little humor but a winding, easy-to-follow plot with surprise twists.

Baldacci is a popular author and I have 6 of his books (thanks to the laundry room book giveaway shelf), but this is the first one I've read. Faith is a government whistle-blower who finds herself on the run with an enigmatic private investigator after an FBI rendezvous goes wrong. They are not
Show More
sure who they can trust (even each other), and the sense of danger and thrill of the chase keep things moving. How do you stay under the radar in this electronic age (or 1999, when the book was published)? Not bad.

Good, but light read

There is action and suspense but the story does get wordy in many places. Not the best Baldacci but I've read. The characters are not memorable.

The plot is to terminate one "inconvenient" whistle-blower, Faith Lockhart. The unexpected complication is a burglarizing P.I., Lee Adams who frustrates the assassination and rescues the damsel in distress. Congress is involved,( now we know why they can't pass anything), as well as the CIA and
Show More
FBI. There were times when the action centered on Lee & Faith or even the FBI agents, that it was riviting. Then it switched to the political big-wigs and it "snailed" out again. There was just way too much discription and past history. I love David Baldacci as a writer and have been vey engrossed in all of the previous books I've read by him but this must have been one of his off days, or weeks...or months.

I've read this twice. Once previously in book form (apparently before I started a Shelfari shelf) and now on audiobook. I only remembered this because of the scene with Lee using a magnet to degauss the VCR tape.

Another excellent book from David Baldacci, involving CIA intramural battles with the FBI. A winding, easy-to-follow plot with surprise twists. The 1st quarter of the book was slow -- it picks up during the second quarter. Characters in this stand-alone Baldaccci book were mysterious and
Show More
sympathetic. Some may not like the sexual assault in the middle of the book. I'm not sure that it adds anything to the characters.

Faith Lockhart has been the right hand man for a powerful, successful lobbyist for years but strange things are going on and she thinks it's time to call in help so she goes to the FBI. Before she can even explain the situation, an agent is killed. I'm a huge fan of Baldacci and this is as good or
Show More
better a story than his others. The characters are enormously interesting and likeable and the plot is wild and credible.

This is one of Mr. Baldacci's earlier books, and maybe not his best, but the plot is full of the political intrigue that he's known for today. It features a lobbyist with a heart of gold, FBI agents on the take, and a CIA spook with a God complex. The character that stood out for me is Lee Adams, a
Show More
divorced private investigator that falls into the middle of this complex struggle for power within our own government agencies. I did learn more about the role of the lobbyist, and that was pretty interesting. The plot was slow at the beginning but picks up at the end. I would rate this one, just okay.
