Arizona wants to reclaim her life, which means acting as bait to lure the enemy into a trap. Sure it's dangerous, especially with a partner as distractingly appealing as Spencer. First Thought when Finished: I expected to be WOW'd by Arizona but really it was Spencer that stole that story!
What I Loved: Spencer! I wasn't sure what I would think about him
What I Liked: Arizona! I was already intrigued by her at the end of Jackson's story. She had a horrific past and the more we found out about it in this book, the more I wonder how the poor gal was functioning at all. Instead, while she did have her flaws, she was fighting to live and fighting to prevent people from being used the way she was. I admired Arizona in so many ways. She had a shaky road but managed to work her way through it. While I didn't find her as intriguing as Spencer, I did find her compelling.
What was a little lacking: Not enough of the other wives even though we saw the Boys. Since this was the last in the series I wanted a little more time with them.
Final Thought: I really loved the Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series. It was my first time reading Lori Foster but it won't be my last!
Sweet Baby Jesus. Those are the 3 words I would describe when talking about him. Really, there are no other words.. Well, except for any possibly word that you could use to describe the most amazing looking, sensitive, well educated all around almost perfect man. – Need a moment?.. I’ll wait :)
We met Arizona in book 3. I won’t go all into the back story, just in case some of you haven’t gotten around to reading it yet. What an amazing woman she is. After everything she went through, being where she is today is the one thing she is the most proud of. The only thing left for her to accomplish? Proving to the guys that she doesn’t need a babysitter and can take care of herself, getting over the past so it doesn’t put such a damper on the best part of her future – oh! and convincing her heart that Spencer isn’t like those men.
Bounty Hunter Spencer is still hurting after the death of his wife 3 years ago – thanks to the wonderful world of human trafficking. Arizona is hell bent on destroying anything that has to deal with human trafficking. Match made in heaven!?. One would only think so.
Watching the two of them battle the surge of emotion that takes place in this book – along with them both striving for the acceptance from the others – it was an uphill battle the entire way. With Spencer trying to convince himself that age didn’t matter and his heart wanted Arizona – she was busy trying to prove just how much she could take care of herself. After the past that Arizona had – Spencer had his work cut out for him.
I’ve never read about a more sensitive man. The things he did to help her face and overcome that which haunted her, simply amazed me. It took patience and understand – that which he had plenty of. The happy ending that we all look for in books was not as easily found in this one. In fact it was almost snatched away a couple of times. The emotional roller coaster that is this book kept me hanging on from page 1.
I know I didn’t give much insight to the book like I normally do, but everything I wrote ended up giving something away!

“You left me.”
Her pulse tripped at the low, oh-so-familiar timbre of his voice. She hadn’t left him. She’d just… left. Why did he make it sound so personal?
“Just noticed that, huh? Man, Spence, you really are astute.”
“You snuck out while I was in the shower.”
I'm looking forward to Chris and Matt (at least, I hope the story is about Matt!).
Arizona Storm is a young woman with a very difficult past. She was sold to human traffickers when she was just seventeen and even though she was able to escape months after, the ordeal she had to live was
Spencer Lark knows Arizona’s past, he admires what she has overcome but at the same time he knows that deep inside she carries the scars left behind by her past. Scars that doesn’t let her get close to people, even less trust or love anyone. Spencer wants to help her heal, she is young and deserves to be happy, loved and cherished. The only problem is that despite their age difference (Arizona 21, Spencer 32) Spencer can’t help himself but feel attracted to her. He doesn’t want to hurt her, he just wants to show her that there is more in life that just be an avenger. At the same time he doesn’t want her to get too attached to him. He can’t have a serious relationship with anyone because he hasn’t been able to forget his dead wife.
When Arizona comes to Spencer for help to bring down a ring of human traffickers he knows he has to help her because knowing Arizona she will do it with or without his help. The only problem is that now they will have to spend more time together and fighting their attraction while being that close won’t be an easy task.
The question is should they fight their attraction? Or should they leave their pasts behind and find peace and solace in each other arms?
I have always wanted to read Lori Foster but for some reason had never done it. When I saw this book in Netgalley I knew this was it, the now or never. What I didn’t know was that this book belonged to a series. I realized it before reading it, I considered reading previous books first, but there were three books and I didn’t have the time. After asking around I was told it could be read as a stand-alone, so that’s what I did. Now that I finished it I can say, yes, this book could be read as a stand-alone but there is lots of background story about Arizona, Spencer and the rest of the “gang” that I think it would have been better to read previous books first. Don’t take me wrong, I wasn’t lost or anything like that, but there were many references to past events that I would have love to know more. I’m sure if I had read this book as part of the series my enjoyment would have been higher even though I really liked this book.
I loved how Mrs. Foster took a very difficult topic as human trafficking and gave it life in the pages. She doesn’t write specifics but just enough to know what had happened making your heart break in many pieces.
In A Perfect Storm she gives us with Arizona and Spencer a broken heroine and a broken hero that find in each other the peace they didn’t know were looking for.
I loved how Arizona is a mix of strength and fragility; she is also socially awkward and doesn’t know how to relate to others. All this made her more real, endearing and believable to me.
Spencer is a dreamy hero. I loved how caring and protective he was; one of the things I liked the most about him was his resistance on the beginning to get involved with Arizona, when he had not yet realized that because of Arizona’s experiences she was more mature than her years. I really admired him because of that; he didn’t want to take advantage of her even though he could have done it many times.
The secondary characters (Jackson and Alani, Trace and Priss, Dare and Molly) were all great, I really want to go back and read their stories. But one character that I stole my heart was Chris, I loved how he was the only one that was able to see Arizona for what she was and what she really needed before anybody else did and his words of advice were wise beyond his years. I really want to know more about him and hopefully Mrs. Foster gives him a nice and deserving HEA.
All in all A Perfect Storm was a very enjoyable read, with great characters, a complex word and a fast moving plot that will have you glued to its pages. As I said before I’m planning to go back and read previous book of this series. I can also tell you that all the hype about Lori Foster writing is truth, her writing style is spotless, fluid and engaging. She is an author you cannot miss.
On her twenty-first birthday she breaks into Spencer’s home and asks the bounty hunter for back-up when setting herself up as bait to take down another group of human traffickers. He’s definitely attracted to her, but believes she’s too young for him and isn’t ready to let go of the wife he lost to a trafficker’s gunfire three years ago. He gently helps her get past a few hang ups and possibly more important, the men all learn to respect her abilities and accept her as one of them.
As with all of these stories in this series, there’s a lot of ink devoted to the inner struggle both Arizona and Spencer individually face when it comes to just what their relationship means and what the other thinks of them. Unlike the other stories, sex isn’t something that happens until much further along. However, since she’s never known kindness or even a gentle kiss, she has a lot of questions he’s willing to answer honestly and some of that alone heats things up.
The entire gang is on hand which is what I like best about this author’s books. In my opinion, it’s the characters that really make the story, and once the main ones are introduced, they play a part in all later books in the series.
Book 4 in the series
Arizonia had once been kidnapped and sold to human traffickers and then tossed
out of a truck going over a bridge. Luckily others were tailing her and rescued
her but now she wants revenge. She was given a new identity and only a few others
even knew
people who took her and get them arrested. She had worked with 3 others, Spence,
Jackson, Dare and Trace and they knew about surveillance.
After it goes down they make their way back to Spencer's and she passes out, but the
next morning she is awakened with remembering about her ordeal and the near drowning.
She has put some stipulations forth before they make love.
The dealings with the people in the bar is not over yet but she's the only one who
knows that they have more information for her.
A real family and they ask her to be a part of it. She's getting relaxed around them
and thinking she is safe from the evils she lets her guard down-wrong choice.
Knowing the players now I know I want to read the other books in this series. The
story kept my attention and it's a field I know nothing about. I like to learn about
new things when I read a book.
Knives really got to me because my son has knives and he also knows how to use them given
his military training. I just thought they were knives-I was so misinformed.
This book also has a LOT of hot steamy sex that never seems to end.
I like Arizona Storm she is fiesty. Arizona has had a hard life her father was abusive and sold her to human traffickers. Arizona does not give up. She escaped from them. Unfortunately she was got and to teach a lesson to the others. Arizona was tied up and thrown off a bridge into a river.
Jackson was down by the river and saw her. He jumped in and grabbed her. Arizona thought he was one of the bad guys and fought him. Jackson rescued and brought her into his family. Even paid for her to go to a finshing school. Jackson,Dare,Chris and Trace all live close and work together to stop human traffickers and make good money. Jackson was like her big brother and wanted to keep her safe. They had her working the computers, backgrounds. Arizona wanted more.
Arizona on her 21 birthday broke into bounty hunter Spencer Lark's house and sat watching him sleep. Arizona met him on another job and felt she could trust him. She found a bar that she thought was dealing in smuggling. She wanted to be bait and catch the bad guys and free the others that are like her.
Spencer agreed to help her because he knew she would do it on her own. Spencer has been fighting his feelings for Arizona. He was 11 years older than her. He wanted to help her get over her fears and protect her.
Part of a deal he was making with her was everytime she swore she owed him a kiss. He would help her and go to Jackson up comming wedding.
Arizona carries a gun in a ankle holster and a knife down her back and is willing to fight dirty & smart. She has some issues dealing with men and swimming in water. She was working to get over them.
This is a good story and I wish their are many more heros out their and less bad guys in real life. I want to go back and read other stories in this group of books. I was given this ebook to read in exchange of a honest review from Netgalley.

This was my first book in the Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor Series (and unfortunately I came in at the tail end), but it's not the average Lori Foster romance, in my opinion. Although, yes it is a romance, I felt that it's more basic fiction. I wasn't as impressed with this book as I was with previous romances she's written. There really is no damsel in distress and rescuing hero. Augusta is a woman more than capable of taking care of herself, which is good, but it pretty much tempers the romantic feelings and tender loving care of the relationship between her and Spencer. There is some danger involved, but I had a harder time getting involved in the story and I read it at a much slower pace than I normally would. Since I know of Ms. Foster's previous work, I'm still excited to see what's coming next and look forward to getting back to the front of the line to buy her next book!
The characters here were well-written and snarky, the pacing is very good and it is generally an enjoyable book--the kind I expect from Lori Foster. However, for as long as it is (about 450 pages) there are still a lot of unanswered or unaddressed issues, mostly dealing with Spencer's past, that I just can't stop thinking about, and so that brings the rating down for me. It would have been nice to get those answers instead of visiting the thoughts of the villain, which I don't think was necessary.
I have not read any other books by Lori Foster, so this was my first taste of The Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series, and I must admit, I quite enjoyed it! There are four books that precede A Perfect Storm: The Guy Next Door, When You Dare, Trace of Fever, and Savor the Danger, but I
Rating: Bounty's Out (3.5/5)
* I received this book from the author (Media Muscle) in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
Spencer and Arizona are the couple this book focuses on. Spencer is still hurting from the tragic loss of his wife. Arizona has a heart-breaking past of her own. She doesn't trust anyone and rightly so. Arizona is brave and has good instincts. Spencer is used to being in control. He feels very overprotective of Arizona. She partners up with Spencer to try to take down a smuggling ring.
Arizona has a great personality. Despite everything that's happened, she is a fighter. That is a strong appeal to her character. Spencer and Arizona have great chemistry together. They humorously banter back and forth quite a bit. The story line in A Perfect Storm is really exciting. It has a lot of action and suspense. Overall it's a good story. I would absolutely check out the other books in this series as well.

A PERFECT STORM is the fourth book in the Men Who Walk The Edge Of Honor series and I am assuming that it will be the last one. I can't really see where another book would come from unless Chris gets his own book but we will see. Overall this has been a rather good series and I do have to admit that this book in particular has been my favorite.
What really sets it apart is Arizona. She has gone thru hell in the past being sold as a sex slave and then rescued. That has really caused some scars that need to be reopened and healed. Luckily she trusts Spencer enough to allow the healing process to start. Some of the scenes between them were almost enough to bring tears to my eyes.
Spencer has his own growing to do also. He is an alpha male which automatically makes him protective of any female and even more so to one he cares for. What he needs to understand is that Arizona is a warrior in her own right and to respect her ability to protect herself and others.
I think that what I appreciated most about this book was the hard look at human traffickers. It is happening yet so many people want to sweep it under the rug. Ms. Foster has presented it in a way that is palatable to her readers. And the more folks that know about it, the closer we are to stopping it. Kudos to Ms. Foster for presenting a clear look at this uncomfortable subject.
I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys romantic suspense. I would rate this book a 3.4.
***I received this book at no charge for NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. No monies have or will exchange hands.
Quick & Dirty: A character-driven plot that is not action packed but the romance is hot.
Opening Sentence: Arizona Storm sat quietly on the overstuffed chair, her chin resting on her drawn-up knees, her fingers laced together around her shins.
The Review:
Arizona
Spencer Lark is a bounty hunter. His wife was killed three years ago in a robbery gone bad. He has been strangely drawn to Arizona ever since he first saw her but he is hung up on the fact that there is a twelve year age difference between them. Spencer also knows about Arizona’s past so he knows that she will have problems getting close to someone.
Arizona breaks into Spencer’s home while he is sleeping. Something Spencer finds a little hard to deal with at first but then it doesn’t bother him. She has come to him with a job opportunity. She has scoped out a business that she believes is a front for human traffickers and she wants Spencer’s help in infiltrating the place.
Arizona is a strong woman but she does have her hang-ups, their names are Trace, Dare, Jackson and Spencer. They just want to protect her but she doesn’t want to be protected. She wants to catch the bad guys and help fight. She has a weakness towards the underdogs and wants to help them. Arizona has no problem speaking her mind and asking uncomfortable questions. I found Spencer’s neighbor Marla a little annoying but at the same time I felt sorry for her because of the questions Arizona kept asking her. She wants to know how real relationships work but since she has only been used she doesn’t understand the workings of a loving relationship.
Human trafficking is a heavy subject to talk about and this story really isn’t an exception. It weighs heavily on the tone of the story. A Perfect Storm is a character driven story. It focuses on the relationship between Arizona and Spencer in depth. It is almost 200 pages in by the time they go to the business to check it out when the action starts to kick in. The tension starts to run pretty high and the one thing that I thought would happen didn’t happen, thankfully. This is not an action driven story.
When Arizona and Spencer inevitably hook up it is hot. Spencer has no problem helping Arizona through her problems. He tells himself and Arizona that it is just to help her with developing a healthy relationship with someone else. Arizona knows that she can only get through her problems with Spencer and Spencer alone. She just hopes that he realizes that before it’s too late.
Overall, A Perfect Storm is a pleasant read even though the subject material is heavy. Arizona and Spencer have a special relationship that helps make each other a better person. I can’t wait to see if there is more in store for them.
Notable Scene:
Arizona’s thoughts were on seducing Spencer instead of where they should have been, so when she saw the dark, indistinct form growing into a long shadow across the walkway, it took a few seconds for the import to sink in.
Too late to take the offensive against him, Arizona realized it was Carl lurking in the night.
Well, damn. Had he taken the back exit from the bar and circled around to get her? That meant he had to have seen her leave.
And it also meant he’d been watching her . . . maybe Spencer, too.
If he’d hurt Spencer, so help her, she would demolish him.
As Carl made a grab for her, she played the helpless victim and let him. He snatched her into the alley with hard hands and careless strength, dragging her down to an open door.
He shoved her into a small dilapidated room.
Maybe before all the whiskey shots, she’d have been sharp enough to think of a better plan. Shoot, even two drinks ago she would have been more on game.
But even over the limit, she wasn’t totally lost to skill. She wanted to get close to him.
How else could she hurt him?
Once they were out of sight from spectators, she reacted instinctively to the arm clamped tight across her throat. She went limp, dropping her weight to throw Carl off balance. When he tried to readjust, she grabbed for his fingers and, in a practiced twist, broke two with a satisfying crackle of joints.
That got her turned loose real fast.
With grim satisfaction, she ducked away while Carl let loose a string of rank curses. She knew Spencer wouldn’t want her to fight, but since Carl blocked her way out of the room, she couldn’t exactly tuck her tail and run, now could she?
He left her no choice but to engage in full-go contact.
Awe-some.
Taking a stance, ready, even anxious, Arizona smiled at him.
