It took me just a few days to zip through these two volumes in the Stephanie Plum mystery series, so I decided to combine them into one review. In High Five, Stephanie's Uncle Fred disappears under mysterious circumstances, and with bounty hunting business a bit slow, Stephanie accepts a request to
Show More
track down Fred. Hot Six, opens with a murder and fellow bounty hunter Ranger is the prime suspect. Both books move along at a fast clip and include all that we've come to love from this series:

Colorful, funny main characters like Lula and Grandma Mazur
Strange and sometimes evil people breaking into Stephanie's apartment
Cars that are stolen, catch fire, or explode
The possiblity of romance with either vice cop Joe Morelli, or Ranger
The romantic subplot really accelerates in these two books. High Five ends on a cliffhanger with one of the two men visiting Stephanie for a romantic liaison, but the man's identity is not revealed. Hot Six begins with a prologue in which we find out who it was (no spoilers here!). Clearly both Joe and Ranger have a "thing" for Stephanie, and she has a "thing" for them, too. I suppose readers are equally divided on their favorite.

I enjoy this series as a diversion from more serious literature. This was perfect fare for a hot summer weekend.

Hot Six (like the name suggests) is the 6th book in the Stephanie Plum series. This time Ranger has gotten himself into a load of trouble and is a person of interest in a murder/arson case. Everybody, except Stephanie, wants her to bring Ranger in. She seems to have a higher than average level of
Show More
hijinks happening and even more people than normal breaking into or staying in her apartment, on an almost nightly basis. We also get to meet Bob.

Once again, it's Stephanie Plum, does things without thinking or learning anything from previous encounters and doesn't ever seem to think someone might be willing to kill or maim since she could never do that. I have to say I've listened to too many of these to close together and now while still funny, I'm finding her more annoying and stupid than really amusing. I'll have to wait 4-6 months before trying another one so I can really enjoy it again.

I definitely enjoyed this one, probably because Ranger was wanted for murder (although I am reluctantly starting to like Ranger a little bit). This one seemed to be one of the funniest of the series. Between Stephanie's grandma moving in with her, two inept mob henchmen following her, and Stephanie
Show More
ending up with a dog that eats everything I was constantly laughing. I loved the ending between Morelli and Stephanie and can't wait to see what happens between them next.

Fun, fasting moving book with interesting characters and story lines

This one was a lot less serious than the ones so far, and I enjoyed it for that. Her language is incredibly raw and amusing, and he characters are great. What more can I say?

I am not really in the target group for these books. Judging by the amount of time spent drooling over men. But I do enjoy them. Amusing stories full of incompetant criminals and a larger than life family.

Hilarious. I loved Bob the dog and Habib. The whole Ranger romance felt weird considering the ending, but a solid read nonetheless.

Interesting situations. The Mooner and the Dealer a little more interesting than the midget in Five. More fun with the Grandma. Mitchell and Habib more fun than the sheik in Five.

Ranger (Carlos Manoso) is on the run. He's accused of killing the son of black-market arms dealer Alexander Ramos. He's been caught on video just minutes before the murder. Stephanie is now the bounty hunter for Ranger and it's making her life difficult. Her grandmother temporarily moves in with
Show More
her and life becomes very interesting.

Great fun, and the introduction of two wonderful characters: Bob the dog, and the Mooner. Lots of action, goofy adventure and fun. I felt that Stephanie was back to acting more realistically. Plus, Morelli proposes!

Stephanie is hired to bring in Ranger but is more interested in clearing his name instead.

At the end of HIGH FIVE there was thread left dangling on the last page. Whose name, Morelli's or Ranger's did Stephanie pull out of the bowl in her Night of Passion Lottery? In HOT SIX it turns out that Joe Morelli is the one that got lucky, but Stephanie did cheat and now we're left with a
Show More
marriage proposal? Earlier in the series I said no way for Stephanie & Joe, now I'm thinking maybe... but not yet.

I found the introduction of the love triangle between Steph, Morelli and Ranger at the end of the last book completely annoying and I was relieved that the author Evanovich backed away from that a bit in this book. Still there, but not quite so prevalent.

Stephanie's treatment of Morelli in the last
Show More
couple of books has been really horrible (he says he loves her and she feels up another guy??) and if it continues, I think I will have to stop reading out of pure disgust.

Fun, as usual~
I still prefer to hear these on CD--very entertaining reader. But also a good beach read.

A book all about Ranger - or is it? This was one of my favoritesin the series so far, probably because of the subject of Stephanie's new hunt. Well, not Stephanie's, exactly...I would like to see Stephanie getting a little more proficient at the bounty hunter gig, though. The 'I left my gun at
Show More
home' is getting just a tad worn. If she wants to use a stun gun or pepper spray, she should get a little better at it and not haul all her stuff around in a bag. Just my opinion...Still, she sure has a nose for trouble, and a dog's nose to go with it this time. I'm glad Bob is hers and not mine!Whew! six books in about as many days, and I'm nearly caught up with my 100 in a year. With Stephanie's help, I might actually get a little bit ahead!

I think I read this in 3 days. These books are so fun, I am constantly laughing. Stephanie, grandma, Morelli, Ranger, they are all there, plus always some of the local flavor to add spice.

Another hilarious entry in the Stephanie Plum series. I got this one in audiobook and listened and laughed the whole time.

As Stephanie is doing her using bounty hunter business she is also helping out Ranger who is on the run. But as usual her snooping lands her in big trouble. With a new set of
Show More
followers and her usual friends, there is never a dull moment. Grandma Mazur even moves in during this one which provides big laughs as usual.

Stephanie is still going strong and is still totally clueless about being a bounty hunter. She makes it purely on luck and other people picking up behind her.

Ranger is suspected to be involved with the death of a local mobster's son, and goes FTA. Stephanie will not bring him back, so Vinnie
Show More
assigns the case to Joyce... Let's see how many cars Stephanie can blow up and dead body she can turn up.

Entertaining and fast-paced you'll wish this book, like all of the Stephanie Plum books, never ended. This time Ranger has gone missing and suspected for murder, Morelli is following her, a suicidal Carol is working for Vinnie, and Grandma Mazur and the big, sloppy golden retriever Bob has moved in
Show More
to Stephanie's one bedroom apartment.

Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum novels always keep me wondering. Yes, it drives me nuts when I see I only have 20 pages left and still no answer, but of course it keeps me reading.

I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about Hot Six at first because I’m a Ranger fan and at the beginning he’s being
Show More
accused of murder. Luckily, Ranger saved the day and restored my faith. He never lets me down.

I loved that Grandma Mazur moved in. She’s hilarious, always saying silly things. I can imagine her taking driving lessons, it’s kind of the same picture I see when I think of my brother driving. YIKES!

And what’s a good Stephanie novel without guns, fights and a little B&E? Action packed to say the least. Not to mention the gun cartel. Cartel’s always spice it up a notch. I can see Alexander Ramos running down the street with track suit on (all those guys wear track suits.)

Another book, something else I’m really liking. I think I’ve mentioned this before, but I love the endings. This is one you have to immediately start Seven Up to see what happened. Cliff hanger I think is the appropriate word. What will Miss Stephanie do? Say yes to the proposal? Dum Dum Dum Dum….. until next time!

I give Hot Six 4 bookmarks.

Nobody does it quite like Stephanie Plum.

Hot Six by Janet Evanovich is the sixth book in the Stephanie Plum series. I enjoyed this one a lot. The characters are so wonderful and it's like an old friend when I pick up a book. I admit that the plots get a little jumbled in my memory but each is unique. This is definitely a series I will
Show More
continue to read and enjoy!

The introduction of Mooner and Dougie make this one of the better ones in the series.

Hilarious, as always. It seems like the books are getting more and more cartoonish, but I'm still loving them regardless. This is probably the funniest series I've ever read.
