A Tender Love Story to Capture Your Heart,

Richard Paul Evans' novel, "The Last Promise" is a wonderful compilation of beautifully described places in Italy that brings the Italian culture to the forefront of his story. While he shares the topography and landscape of the area he weaves it all

around a wonderful love story of such gentleness and tenderness it will bring tears. He teases the reader with gentle touches of suspense so that you keep turning those pages. I couldn't put the book down until I read the resolution. If you like romance and tender love, you must read Richard's book, "The Last Promise".

I usually do not like stories that do not take place in America, but anything RPE writes is great. The story of Eliana and Ross was a nice reminder of how important hope is.

customs. They are both married, to others.
Story goes back in time....her son has asthma but she can't attend church as the custom is to use the special burning incense that starts her son coughing.
Her husband is away traveling for work 6 days a week...alternating chapters follow Ensel and when he arrives in Florence...he starts out as a tour guide at a gallery. She's heavily into the arts.
There are threats ... the son is in jeoardy. Surprise ending, didn't see that happening.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

A chance meeting in Tuscany, Eliana is an American painter, on a loveless marriage. Ross is starting over after a life changing tragedy....will their secrets hold them together, and will they ever find each other again?

This was not as much a Christian Story as a second chance love story. Eliana (Ellen) met and married Mauizio when she was young and she moved to Italy madly in love. Shortly after they moved to Italy, he began having mistresses. When Eliana had a son, Alessio, it turned out that he had serious

asthma. As time went on, Alessio got worse and worse and Maurizio was home less and less. She was a very unhappy woman. When she meets Ross, she is very vulnerable and when he treats her with kid gloves, she eventually falls in love. Maurizio is not going to make this easy for either of them. The setting of Florence was wonderful and beautifully described. I also enjoyed the descriptions of the harvest and making the wine. I wish there had been more information about the Uffizzi as I have never been to Italy nor heard of this art gallery. I enjoyed this story and it was a relatively short book to read. I really liked the characters of Eliana, Ross, Anna and Alessio. I could feel Alessio's pain at the absence of his father and Eliana's distress at the lack of a relationship between them. Anna was a hoot. She did not pull any punches and was not afraid of her brother at all. Ross was a man who had been through a lot and I was rooting for him to finally be happy. I liked the way the story both began an ended, tying the story together.
