This was a fantastic novel. I could not put this one down. This is by far Jeffrey Archer's best.

As a fan of conspiracy novels, I love this book.

A good story with plenty of plot twists, which travels right into Iraq before the 'regime change'. As with most Jeffrey Archer novels, plenty of surprises and secrets which aren't revealed until the last minute.

I don't think the Declaration of Independence stuff was quite as hard-hitting for those

of us in the UK, as we don't have anything equivalent to it, so it's harder to understand the sort of regard in which it is held in the USA.

Not a bad book. I'd never read an Archer book and I would have to say not half bad. I will have to seek out other books by him and try them as well. The twists and turns were plentiful all of the way until the end of the book...I was worried I was going to be continued in another book!

The plot is quite a simple on in that Saddam Hussein, in an effort to embarrass the American Government hires a criminal gang to steal the 'Declaration of Independance' and the CIA's efforts to steal it back. And others has stated it had the feel of either a Robert Ludlum or Tom Clancey novel

without all the high-tech wizardry, a real plus in my book.

The plot idea was quite original and well thought out. There were some real goodies and baddies for you to cheer or boo depending on your outlook. The fact that there was little high-tech gadgetry and therefore the story relied more on good penmanship were all bonuses. However, on the down side there was little character development and nor did the characters particularily, perhaps because the basic plot was just too unbelievable, and I unfortunately had worked out the final twist some time before the end which did little to add to my overall enjoyment.

In summary this was a reasonable read with a fast paced, page turning plot but not IMHO one of Archer's best and as such not one which will live long in the memory

This was a pretty strong book, a little let down by the end I thought.

It covers the story of a comically evil Saddam Hussein who hires a US criminal to steal the Declaration of Independence, running parallel is story of Israel's Mossad training a female spy to assassinate Saddam, the two stories

come together with a dab of romance thrown in and a romp across the Iraqi desert on an against all odds mission.

It's interesting and entertaining for the most part although I would say a little fanciful in the situations depicted, sadly one of the 'twists' towards the end made most of the book pointless and irrelevant had a single person asked one more question earlier on.
