Yes that's right, I finished a book. Finally! Ok as I stated last week, James Patterson's new book, Angel came out. If you didn't know this is the second to last book of the series that I am obsessed with, literally. I own every edition. I bought every single one. There are about four of each one
Show More
so far and yeah I own them all. Now the new one is over, once again I am in a state of sadness because I want the new one now. I do not want to wait until 2012! Anyways, if you have never read any of the Maximum Ride series. Shame on you. Read them now. Angel, though has to one of the best books in the series. Not counting those random two in the middle that were completely random and had nothing to do with the story in my opinion. Back to the new book though, it was amazing. I don't want to say much because the books always start off where they left off. So I'll just mention things that are the basics. If you have never read the books, the main characters of the story are avian hybrid teenagers. Sounds awesome right? That's cause it is. There are six flock children: Max, Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gazzy and Angel. They all have been altered with bird DNA, therefore they were born with wings (cool right!?) along with other powers that they find out through out the series.

So back to the book. Extremely good, seeing how its the second to last book it was filled with action pack action and suspense. So go out buy the books and read them all and join me in thinking how completely awesome this series is...side note yes I know this book is for kids in middle school mostly. Hear me out though I started the series in the 8th grade. I have even made my mother read them and she is an age that I will not say so I can get feed tonight. We will just say she is an older woman who looks very young for her age. Also my mother has actually enjoyed all of these books too, it just takes her a year to read a book because she is crazy busy.

Side note, if you are not interested in reading a book that is based off teenagers, but still find the story line to be interesting check out James Patterson's When the Wind Blows and The Lake House not all the characters are the same, but the whole bird hybrid people are in them. Just for older readers.

In this volume of the Maximum Ride series, the 77th generation of mutant kids intends to kill all the humans and restore the world to it's original pristine condition.

Angel was amazing! When I finished it, I stared at the book for five minutes thinking, "WOW!!!" So, I loved it.
Angel is just like the rest of the series, action-packed, funny, and romantic. Throughout the whole book Max is dealing with getting over Fang and accepting Dylan. When she and Fang meet
Show More
again, (YES, FANG COMES BACK!!!!) they don't get along, partly because of Max II, a member of the Fang Gang.
Of course, the rest of the flock is still there, and Angel plays a bigger role in the book than ever before. There is even another evil group that the flock has to defeat in order to save the world.
Read the book!

Angel is the latest in James Patterson's blockbuster young adult series, Maximum Ride. Following in the footsteps of the previous novels, Angel delivers everything that Maximum Ride fans have come to expect: fast-paced action about genetically altered teenagers, complete with teen romance and
Show More
world-saving environmentalism undertones.

Angel picks up not long after Fang leaves off. Fang is now off with his own flock, leaving Max with the usual group of rag-tag misfits. As Max works through her teenage romance issues, a new group appears on the scene who wants to eradicate all humans. Max then is convinced by yet another scientist that she must, yet again save the world.

In many ways, Angel is just more of what was in the previous Maximum Ride novels, but by now Patterson is grasping for straws. Really, the first story arch (first 4 books) is what made this series enjoyable, but everything since has been purely to milk the franchise. There has been little direction, the books have had virtually no meat, and have been fairly dull. But what's even worse is that the last three-ish books or so have just been repetitions of one another. There's absolutely nothing new here, nothing really of interest to offer fans accept another fast-paced action novel with everyone's favorite Maximum Ride characters.

At this point, I'd only recommend this book to hard core fans of the serious who really must know what happens next to the characters, but other than that, take the pass. Even with the final book in the Maximum Ride series coming out in February 2012, it's not worth it just to complete the series. This series should have ended a long time ago.

It was fantastic! You need to read the other Maximum Ride novels.

Warning: Spoilers included.
If the next book wasn't the last in the series, I might not buy anymore, but since there is just one more after this, I will buy it just so the series is complete.
It seems like there is less and less in each Patterson hardcover; much of the story is wasted on trying to
Show More
figure out who is evil, who is good and which side presents the threat to the world, and it is exhausting. To think that anyone who has genetic modifications is no longer consider human seems ridiculous. I don't like that we have no idea what happened to Max's mom or Jeb, and I found it a bit hard to believe that blowing up a stadium was going to be the start of the end of the world. I tolerated this book, but it has fallen quite low compared to how much I liked the first couple books. And I knew Angel wasn't dead...
I really hope that the final book (eight) pulls out all the stops and turns out to be a blockbuster of a finisher because the last three books have been HORRIBLE, and I'm feeling really cheated!

I was practically jumping in my seat in school, waiting to get home on the 14th of February. I had pre-ordered Angel and expected it to be in my mailbox that day only get it on the 15th. When I finally got the book, I finished Angel in an hour. It was a surprisingly fast read but still had so much
Show More
going in the pages. Now that I have read Angel, my opinion has just a tad bit changed on Dylan. To me he seems less annoying. I still support Fang and Max forever though.:) The twist at the end of the book was kind of surprising but also expected. You knew something dramatic would happen just not what exactly. In all Angel was a incredible read that I enjoyed thoroughly.

Although I know Max is the star here, considering the title of this book is "Angel" I thought we might see a bit more from her point of view. Despite the fact this didn't really happen, I was not disappointed by the story. We had the usual chases and fights, were introduced to some interesting new
Show More
characters in Fang's gang and watched as Max bemoaned her love triangle issues. Since everyhing was evenly mixed I didn't get overly sick of any one element.

I know we are coming up to the last book of the series, and I wouldn't be surprised if we are treated to a complete "end of the world" scenario. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens to all the loose ends left here, including Ella, Max's mother and Jeb and, of course, Angel.

I thought this was a typical max ride book. Only this time, Fang has formed his own flock & joins forces with Max's flock to fight the bad guys & save the world. However, the reader is left hanging as to what really has happened to Angel. I guess we will find out in the last book in this
Show More
series.

I thought that Angel was a good book. I am excited to see how James Patterson will finish off the series. I have read all the other books and I have liked them all. Seeing that it is the seventh book in a series it goes without saying you need to have read all the other books to understand it. It
Show More
is hard to avoid spoilers so i'll just say that it is a satisfying penultimate book and the two flock angle gets very entertaining! I would definately recommend it to any Maximum Ride fans!

Epic. Just epic. James Patterson did it again with ANGEL! It was an awesome read and had lots of action. Bird kids are awesome and I can't wait for the next book!

"I'm free now. The end is near, and soon we'll all be free!" he shouted, raising a fist.
"Again with the world ending," I muttered.

Well this wasn't my favorite book of the series but it was better than the the fourth and the fifth book. The way James Patterson writes makes me fly though the story. I
Show More
like how he incorporates world issues into his books too. He doesn't bombard the reader with propaganda but it's there if you know where to look for it. The characters were more developed in this installment of the series too and we get to see a completely different side of some of the characters than before.

The one thing I didn't like about this book mainly was Max's character. In every book she's always the strong, sarcastic adventurous type of girl. In this book, however, she appears to the reader as a heartbroken pathetic teen girl. What happened to the fight in her? Fang left and that was his choice. C'mon and get over it and don't let a guy dictate how you should live your life.

With that being said, honestly I have been a fan of Fang and Max together since book 1. I knew it was always going to happen and when it finally did I was overjoyed. But after reading this book, I just don't know anymore. I really didn't like Fang in this one. I don't understand his logic on the idea that with the two of them separated everything works out better and why they should both have their own "flocks." When he encounters Max again in this story after leaving her in the last book, he's nowhere near in the amount of devastation that she is. It truly seemed like he cared but only a little bit. If that's the case, then screw Fang. Dylan is always there for Max when she needs him and he seems to completely care about her. I think she should give him a chance.

And I can't leave this review without talking about Angel. Throughout the series, I have increasingly started hating Angel. Who does this little girl think she is? She tries to take the flock from Max in one of the books and tries to become the leader. She has back-stabbed Max quite a few times now. In this book, though, she redeemed herself in my eyes. I went from hating her to absolutely loving her. How is this wise wisdom coming from a seven year old girl? She comes up with the plan and when she and Max talk in this story, I feel as if Angel is this older woman imparting her knowledge onto Max instead of being so much younger than her. And then the end....

Well let's just say I'm readily anticipating the eighth and final book in the series due out in February 2012. Sources say it's going to be titled Iggy. That would be just grand because I love Iggy. He's one of my favorite characters in the series.

This was a fairly decent book, Patterson began filling in plot holes left unanswered from the start of about book three. The characters begin to annoy you at times, but Patterson was still able to write another good book. The combination of new and recurring characters, along with some plot twist
Show More
give this book a solid 3 1/2 stars with me.

I liked the development of Max's relationships with Dylan and Fang, but that's the sort of thing that readers will either love or hate. And there's still enough action in the book to satisfy readers who've been following this series from the start. The only real problem is that it seems so darn
Show More
short! That, and it's a real cliffhanger ending. I can't wait for the final book to come out! Overall, if you've read the other Maximum Ride books, you aught to read this one - even if it has a bit more mush than the others.

SUMMARY -
Max is having a crisis. Not physical, but emotional. Fang, after dying and coming back to life, as left. Left her
Show More
and her Flock. He left her a love letter on his bed and just disappeared. Now he has his own gang, and Max must move without him. There's a doomsday group, talking about the One Light - hope - and hypnotizing people toward their cause. What is their cause? And will following the D-day group lead Max to Fang once again?

MY THOUGHTS -
There were some choppy parts of this book, some random scenes that didn't lead to or from anything. But most of the time I was into the story and excited to know more about the root of the situation, despite the cheesiness of the root. I don't know how James Patterson is going to wrap this up in one more book, but honestly I can't wait. I read this nearly a year ago and still have a month left until I get my hands on book #8! This book is like a tease!

Again, I really, really love the characters. And again, they're the reason I'm sitll here. I would've stopped at book #4 if I hadn't been totally in love with Max, Fang, and the rest of the Flock. I was then, and I am now. They are really amazing to read about.

The story this time was good, even though it had the usual "out-of-nowhere" feel. But it was enjoyable, intense, and heartwrenching. I'd say sadder than the last book, which was pretty darn sad. :( I NEED TO KNOW!!!!!!

This book reminds me of...
Teasing
Terrible covers
Infuriatingly LONG gaps between books
Really exasperating love triangles that you wish would just DISINTEGRATE, but you also love at the same time
Cheesy D-day crap (lol)

For the Parents -
Some kissing...maybe some minor cussing. Recommended 12+

ANGEL
In the seventh book of the Maximum Ride Series, evil scientists try to persuade Max into thinking that Dylan is her perfect mate ,only to speed the process of evolution through reproduction. After Fang departed from the flock(Iggy, Nudge, Gazzy and
Show More
Angel), Dylan took Fang’s place and was always there to comfort Max in her times of trouble. Max still has feelings for Fang even after he ripped out her heart and stomped on it. But she starts to believe that she and Dylan were really meant to be together after she gets close to him.

Fang travels far to gather up a flock of his own evolved humans. He replaces Max with her clone Maya and trouble brews when both flocks join together to defeat the One Light. The One Light is a group of enhanced people who hypnotized thousands of kids across the planet to follow them. Their goal is to wipe the earth clean of humans and start a new generation of evolved people. Their motto is Save the Planet: Kill the Humans. The only one who can save them now is Angel.

This was the first time I was ever disappointed by James Patterson. How could he break Max and Fang up? Now all the other Maximum Ride books don’t matter if Fang and Max aren’t going to be together in the end. Fang and Max were meant to be together, they had a very special relationship that people die trying to find. It can't end with Fang and Maya together and Dylan and Max. Other than that, I loved the book. I loved it how James uses a two person perspective and shows how both sides near each other. Angel just might be the best Maximum Ride book in the series.

ANGEL
The novel ANGEL, the seventh book of the Maximum Ride Series by James Patterson begins as Max is remembering Fang, as he had recently left Max, his love. Evil scientists struggle to convince Max to get closer to Dylan and
Show More
reproduce with him to make evolution quicker. Max soon gets closer to Dylan unknowingly, but still thinks of Fang. Fang later on makes his own flock, and replaces his previous flock with them. Max's and Fang's flock soon combine, even though Fang has forgot her and moved on into liking Maya, Max's duplicate. Their goal is to get rid of The One Light, which is a group of hypnotized children who want to get rid of all the humans and create a new evolution. As they say "Save the planet, kill the humans!" For the flock and Fang's Gang it will be a big challenge as anything can happen, but the only one who can really help is Angel.
I rate this novel five out of five. This is because the story showed one story about Fang and the other about Max and how they combine. It was very shocking how Fang just moved on from Max. I wish and hope they are back together again because Fang can't stay with Maya forever. Max and Fang are made for each other even though everyone says Dylan is Max's perfect half. I really think that James Patterson did an amazing job with all the suspense, romance, and the big cliff hanger at the end of the book. He does great work with his descriptive writing always, which gets me excited for the next book, Nevermore, which is the last book of the series. I loved this book a lot and enjoyed every single part.

Angel is the sixth book in the Maximum Ride series. This book is about a girl named Max having wings. She’s not the only one either. She has a group called the Flock. They are mostly kids but one is a talking, and now flying, dog. Max has to save the world. Now Fang, the only one Max loved and
Show More
trusted, has left her broken hearted. Of course, Dylan sees his chance and tries to step in but no way is Max going to let that happen. She is told that Dylan is her “perfect other half” and now she’s told she has to start a dynasty when the world ends. Max’s awesome mom doesn’t stand for that. She gets very mad at Jeb. James Patterson doesn’t leave Fang out though. He’s still in the series and he’s replacing each and every one in the Flock. This book is absolutely thrilling. It’s woven with love, action, and betrayal.

I was really excited to finally get my hands on this book, and read it in one sitting because I just couldn't bear to put it down without knowing how things were going to end up. It was really good but not nearly as good as the previous ones. I think the main reason I didn't like it was because Max
Show More
and Fang were apart... which doesn't really make any sense. They've always been very central to the books, and to have them apart and falling for other people was just way too weird. I didn't see the point of Max falling for Dylan, and I actually find Dylan quite creepy. I'm hoping that Max and Fang will be back together in the next one (which is also the last one) because that would be perfect.

After a few disappointing and pointless earlier volumes, this one - the second to last, is really starting to pick up steam. Finally, the plot seems to be on track instead of meandering back and forth over various challenges - we're getting to what the characters were maybe meant to do - save the
Show More
world. Or is it? Character development is good - Max is finally starting to grow up a bit and Angel is as creepy as ever - although she too is starting to show more compassion and become less manipulative. Alas, we still had to put up with that pesky talking dog, but thankfully his role was minimal. Whilst the newly created not-quite-love-triangle is a bit tedious, it is still good to see Max finally getting a little bit past her "Fang is the only one for me" way of thinking. All up, I look forward to the final instalment although I cannot help but think that perhaps Patterson should have started the plot with the DG rather earlier in the series, instead of plugging it in now like he's finally suddenly realised that the storyline needs a Big Bad Evil Thing to beat up on.
