"It was because of her wonderful noodle pudding that Grandma met the pirates..." Three hungry savage pirates smell the noodles, raid Grandma's house and kidnap Grandma and Oliver. Melissa joins them on the high seas as she tries to rescue her family. Silly, not one of my favourites.

When Melissa's grandmother and parrot are kidnapped by pirates (along with her grandma's delicious noodle strudel), she doesn't hesitate before running to save them.

She ends up captured as well, but, as you can expect, ultimately thinks up a way to secure her escape.

This delightful story is different from many children's books I've read. The images have a distinct feel and truly help in the story telling and add to the excitement of the story. It's a tale of adventure as Melissa's grandmother and their parrot are kidnapped by a group of malnourished pirates

eager for delicious food. The pair must team up to outwit the pirates and escape their ship. The story isn't too scary for young children, but does carry the thrill of adventure kids will love.
