This book is about volcanoes and their impact on planet Earth. I consider this non-fiction book very informative. Volcanoes have been around since the beginning of time. Their tremendous impact on Earth poses many threats as well as birth of new life.

I liked this book because it contained a lot of

useful information. This book would be great to read to Jaidyn. She loves being outside and loves visiting the mountains.

I would definitely use this book for a geography or science lesson. I would also have my students do an art project and create a "live volcano."

Summary:
This book is an informative book about volcanoes. A volcano is the biggest explosion in nature. 50 volcanoes erupt each year around the world. There are more than 500 active volcanoes in the world and more than half of these form the Ring of Fire around the Pacific Ocean. After a volcano
Show More
erupts living things return to nature. They do not just destroy, they create land.

Personal Reaction:
I was really surprised about how many active volcanoes are on earth. There is a picture in the book showing where they are all located, which was interesting to me. Luckily in Oklahoma we don't have to worry about volcanoes.

Classroom Extensions:
1. I would create a volcano with the class.
2. It's a great book to teach about volcanoes and where they are all located around us.
