This is a book about a kitty who decides to be bad when she overhears that all her food is gone and all that is left is healthy food. The alphabet is used four times in this tale with different words to represent the letter. It is great for children to see the different uses of the letter. The

story has lots of color and activities going on on each page so the children are constantly looking all over the pages.

This was a fun book. It had quite a bit of action, and fun illustrations. It was funny, because the only Bad Kitty book I had previously read was Bad Kitty vs Uncle Murray, and that is a children's novel, so the fact that Bad Kitty itself was a picture book was pretty surprising to me.

Bad Kitty has a fit when they try to feed her food (each food focuses on the ABC's) that she doesn't like. Kitty is not happy so she decides to be a bad kitty. She jumps on the bed, was mean to Mom, ruined the rug, etc. Each action goes through the alphabet also. Then they finally shop and buy food

for kitty such as lizard lasagna, penguin pizza, and turtle turnovers.

A very cute story about a cat that is upset when her family runs out of cat food. Four places in the story use the letters of the alphabet to list, the foods kitty won't eat, what she does to be a bad kitty, the foods she will eat, and how is will be a good kitty again. There are several pictures

per page and my kids always love the trouble the kitty gets into. They also love the ending when the puppy arrives, a great transition to the Bad Puppy book. I use this story as an read aloud at the beginning of the year when we start our alphabet unit.

This is a really fun alphabet book that delves into the mood swings of a very reactionary cat, ha ha. I guess the "good for kitty" food part didn't make much sense. I'm sure that was part of its intended charm, though!

This alphabet book uses the abcs multiple times to show what the kitty doesn't like to eat when the family runs out of cat food, what bad things she does, and what she does like to eat as well as her acts of restitution, once she gets the food she likes.

I love cats so I was drawn to this book because of the cute kitty on the front. It turned out to be a super cute book about a cat in an alphabetical search of food and mischief. I see this mostly as just an anytime classroom reading book for young kids, but it could also be in an alphabet unit,

Repetitive and entertaining are both great learning tools. Children get to read the alphabet 4 different and unique ways. The artwork captures the reader before the story even starts, revealing bad kitty's destruction and little kitty paw prints on the title page. The illustrations are cartoon like

and naive. The colors are bright and the pages are busy. Objects, alphabet and kitty havoc is hilarious throughout the pages.

semi-comic book format. After learning in ABC order the food Kitty did not like, Kitty took revenge when it “Ate my homework, Bit Grandma, Clawed the curtains, and Damaged the dishes.” But when the family returns from the grocery store with “an Assortment of Anchovies, Buffalo Burritos, Chicken Cheesecake, and a Donkey named Dave,” Kitty redeemed itself when it “Apologized to Grandma, Bought me new toys, Cleaned her Cat box, and Drove me to school.” The illustrations are humorous and accompany the lyrical rhythm of the words charmingly. You can’t help but fall in love with the scrawny little cat and hope that there is a sequel. Imagine if the family adopted a dog! Highly recommended for children grades pre-K – 2.

Bad Kitty is an ABC book that follows a kitty that used to be a good kitty. But when kitty runs out of cat food his owners try to feed healthy food to kitty. They have Asparagus, Beets, Cauliflower, Dill, Eggplants, Fennel, Garlic, Horseradish… all the way through all the letters in the alphabet.

Yuk. Kitty is not happy so she decides to be a bad kitty. Kitty, Ate homework, Bit grandma, Clawed Curtains… all the way to the end of the alphabet where kitty Zeroed the Zinnias. But then the family goes shopping and they get, Assortment of Anchovies all the way to baked Zebra Ziti. So kitty Apologizes to grandma all the way through the alphabet again until kitty lulls the baby to sleep (ZZZ).
This is an ABC picture book.
I thought this book was really cute and went through each letter of the alphabet in a fun and cute way.
I think this would be great to teach children the alphabet and also entertain them with the cute story about a good kitty gone bad.

LOVED this book! I really like how the author manages to find something food-like for each letter twice! It is a really good teaching book for the alphabet and could be used as an opener to an activity where my students would draw a topic and then with each letter of the alphabet, come up with a

word corresponding to their topic, just how Bruel has done in this book. Very creative!

Bad Kitty is an extremely fun and humorous way to introduce the alphabet to children. I like that the alphabet is introduced three times and in a fun and new way through kitty's behavioral mood swings.

I enjoyed this book but it seemed a little long for the novice ABC'er. As I read this to my daughter, she got distracted with other things happening and I also did as well. Great drawings of the kitty but just a little too long. I give it 3 happy stars.

I like this book a lot. It's ingenious the bad things the cat comes up with. Really super funny and in my opinion a little gross. I like it.

was a lot of fun to read to my First Graders. It illicitated more than a couple "oohs" or "UGGS." I really prefer to the "Fast Tracks" ABC reding we do. It has way more personality.

determined to reform, kitty engages in an A-Z list of good behaviors, until another turn of events - the introduction of a new puppy companion - leads to another (possible) change of heart...

As a girl I simply loved Jack Gantos's Rotten Ralph books, about one very badly-behaved feline who was constantly up to no good, so Nick Bruel's Bad Kitty felt like familiar territory to me. I enjoyed this story of one kitty's vacillation between good and bad behavior, and think it will make for a uniquely entertaining alphabet book. The artwork is a little more cartoon-like in style than I care for - it felt a little flat to me, to be honest - but it works well with the story. Recommended to all young cat lovers, and to anyone looking for alphabet books with a story attached to them.
