St Patricks Day is an informational book telling young readers about the history behind St Patricks Day. The story goes through and tells about Saint Patrick and all he did in Ireland to teach the natives about God. The story tells us all about the traditions for St Patricks Day and why we wear

green.

I can relate to this story because every year of St Patricks Day we wear green or else we get pinched. I also remember making Shamrocks in school on this day.

As a classroom extension, the students will make their own shamrocks to hand around the classroom. We would also dicuss St Patricks Day and the history behind it all.

This short book is full of wonderful details about the celebration of St. Patrick's Day. Although this holiday is not usually a big part of elementary schools, it does still take place and is more than just shamrocks and leprechauns. This book tells the history of the holiday as well as what people
Show More
do to celebrate it. The simple wording allows this to be a great book for a read aloud on St. Patrick's Day. In working with building students' knowledge of other cultures and holidays, St. Patrick's Day is an excellent source to add to the classroom.

Great way to teach the history and why we recognize St. Patrick on March 17th to a classroom. It is informative about the Irish culture in Ireland. Also how the color green, shamrocks, leprechauns, the harp (musical instrument) relate to the St. Patrick's day holiday. In the back it tells the

There's a lot of good information about St. Patrick's Day in this children's book, but it's not overwhelming, and the pictures are pretty cute. One of the new things I learned about St. Patrick's Day is that it was celebrated in the U.S. for the first time back in 1737 (which surprised me) in

Boston (which didn't).

A very basic introduction to the contemporary, secular holiday of St. Patrick's Day. A good place to start with a young child that focuses on tangible represenations of the holiday, as opposed to its cultural history or meaning.
