Great for all ages. Shows children that being different is okay. Each child can use construction paper to make pictures of themselves, then tell ways that they are different.

This is another great book about Tacky the penguin. I would read this book during Tacky week! I love the pictures in this book!

Three Cheers for Tacky, is a very cute, and funny story about a penguin named Tacky. Tacky is different from all of the other penguins, and is sometimes seen as an outcast. However, he triumphs at the end, and receives all of the respect from the other penguins.

I thought this story would be a great
Show More
example to express the importance of individuality to children, and to let them know that it's okay to be different.

A fun after reading assignment would be to sit everyone in a circle, and have them to tell everyone an interesting fact about themselves.

This book is good for kindergarten to second grade. It teaches children that it is okay to be different. In this book, Tacky is different and because of this his squad wins the cheer competition.

This is great. All the penguin schools are competing in a cheering contest, and the WINNERS get big blue RIBBONS. (There's a great image of all the penguins imagining themselves wearing blue ribbons. Tacky pictures his around his feet!)

So after they firmly explain to Tacky that, on a TEAM everybody
Show More
is the SAME, they practice their routine. Repeatedly. One, two, three - LEFT! One, two, three - RIGHT! Stand up, sit down, say good night!

Tacky has a few... problems with it. Naturally. But he finally gets it right... and they find out that the non-penguin judges think all the other contestants are boring as heck! Luckily, Tacky can't get it right forever, and by being weird and cool at the same time, he Saves the Day!

The other penguins never are shown mocking Tacky for being different, which is a nice change of pace for this type of book.

The penguins enter a cheering contest. They practice and practice until Tacky does the routine exactly right. During the contest the judges are bored by the routine routines, when Tacky's penguin troupe cheers, he messes up but in a hilarious way which gets the judges attention. His mistakes and
Show More
oddball attitude save the day and win the big contest.

This is a very cute book about a group of Penguins. Tacky is the "odd bird out". His group enters a cheering competition and they are very worried that Tacky cannot learn the routine. In the end, Tacky's mistakes and funny antics charm the judges and they end up winning the competition.

Tacky is an odd penguin trying to fit in with the rest of the penguins. The penguin team is entering a cheer competition, and Tacky wants to join. He ends up messing the cheer up during the competition, but the judges love him. The book is a great and hysterical tale of learning to accept

differences.

Tacky's behaviors are very different - and annoying - to the other penguins, but his individual and creative style help them win the cheering contest. Without him, the judges thought their team was boring. GREAT for discussion when a class member's behavior is very different from the rest of the

class.

Tacky - a quirky little penguin with a fondness for Hawaiian shirts, and a penchant for causing chaos - returns for his second adventure in Three Cheers for Tacky. As Goodly, Lovely, Angel, Neatly, and Perfect - those smooth-stepping birds who always kept a "stiff upper beak" - prepare for the
Show More
upcoming cheering contest, Tacky struggles to fit into their team. But will he be able to perform "properly," when the time comes...?

While not quite as entertaining as the initial Tacky the Penguin, this follow-up is an engaging and humorous picture-book examination of the benefits of individuality. The ending is never really in question, but young readers will enjoy witnessing Tacky's triumph regardless. I appreciated the fact that Tacky's penguin companions aren't depicted as malicious bullies - they simply don't understand, or always appreciate him. Lynn Munsinger's charming illustrations add to the sense of fun. All in all, a solid entry in a series I intend to continue reading...

Once again, Tacky the Penguin shows being tacky is not such a bad way to live. His crazy antics and wild personality save the day in this lovely story. I enjoy the pictures and the prose, and of course - the characters! I highly recommend this book for young readers and any adult who enjoys a good

chuckle.

If you've read the other Tacky stories, this is very similar. The appreciation of the oddball continues. You gotta love it.
