Description

Todays historical displays and promoted memories of Darwin revolve around the bombing of the port by Japanese Imperial Forces in 1942 and the devastation of Cyclone Tracy on Christmas Eve 1974. There is little recognition of the three earlier cyclones that wreaked havoc on the town, nor the important role played by Japanese in the town's early development. This book arose out of an examination of the few remaining Japanese headstones and investigation of the stories that lay behind them.
